TiVo Alert: BBC America’s “BBC AMERICA REVEALS”

The BBC has given us lots of high-quality programming over the years, such as Doctor Who and Monty Python’s Flying Circus.

But if you really want to watch some fascinating TV, you should check out the documentaries that BBC America is airing on Thursdays at 9:00pm ET, as part of their “BBC AMERICA REVEALS” series.

Coming in the next few weeks are episodes about women who fall in love with inanimate objects (“Married to the Eiffel Tower”), and men who are sexually attracted to their cars (“My Car is My Lover”).

Recent episodes have included the following:

  • 100 Men Own My Breasts: Women sign up on a website offering free breast implants, in exchange for those women then conversing with the men who will donate money to pay for the surgery.
  • Perfect Private Parts: why do women, some as young as 16, choose to get labiaplasty surgery?
  • My Fake Baby: A look at a small, but growing, group of adult women who purchase realistic fake babies. They then don’t treat them as dolls, but rather as real living entities (throwing parties for them, taking them for walks, buying them clothes).
  • The Ins-and-Outs of Brothels:  Follow the story of two women who want to open their own brothel in the UK as they visit Amsterdam, join a sex ranch in Nevada, and look at a New Zealand high-end prostitution co-op… all in the name of “research”.

Watching these is akin to watching a car wreck – you know it’s not necessarily going to be good, but they’re all incredible stories that you sometimes just can’t believe are true and just have to watch how they play out.

Other episodes in this series include:

  • Britain’s Worst Teeth
  • Transvestite Wives
  • Too Ugly to Love
  • My Secret Female Body
  • Love Me, Love My Doll
  • Britain’s Youngest Grannies
  • I’m A Boy Anorexic
  • My Big Breasts and Me
  • My Small Breasts and I
  • Super Skinny Me
