Web Watch has reported on different studies regarding when men or women decide to participate in protected or unprotected sex in the past.
Today, we ran across a USC study entitled SEX AND RELATIONSHIPS ON THE STREET: HOW HOMELESS MEN JUDGE PARTNER RISK ON SKID ROW.
The study took a look at the homeless population, some of whom have HIV/AIDS or other STDs due to frequent unprotected sex.
The study was to help see if there was a pattern regarding why the homeless choose to participate in unprotected sex – what they found was that homeless people rely on visual clues, the partner’s alleged reputation and flirtiness, and sexual myths to determine if a potential sexual partner would be appropriate to have unprotected sex with.
One thing they’d look at is the amount of earwax the partner had.
It’s possible that the homeless were relying on Urban Dictionary’s definition of earwax:

Sigh.
One of the study’s pieces of advice was to advocate more sex education for homeless men.
