Which country has the fastest Internet?

How fast is your Internet connection?

Do you think it’s fast, or just fast enough?

Remember back in the day (and we’re only talking about maybe 10 years ago for many) when you were still using dial-up modems to connect to the Internet at 56k speeds?  Heck – Web Watch still has a 2400 baud modem lying around here somewhere.  Yeah, that day you upgraded to that 56k rocket was awesome, wasn’t it?

So fast-forward to today, where we all pretty much take broadband, always-on Internet for granted.  Whether it be via a 3G (or shudder – worse) connection on your smartphone or a Wi-Fi connection that you’re mooching off your neighbor or the local Starbucks — fast Internet has almost become part of The Bill of Rights, a Constitutional Right.

In some ways, they’re right – the Internet can be free for you to use.  Just go to your local library and sign on.

But who wants to do that?  Yeah, thought so.

So let’s get back to that speed question, whether your connection speed is as fast as you’d like.  Some people are happy that their home Internet speed is faster than what they have at the office. Some people prefer cable to DSL for home connections.  To each their own.

But WHAT COUNTRY HAS THE WORLD’S FASTEST INTERNET CONNECTION?  Would it surprise you to know that the US is not even in the TOP FIVE fastest countries?

Here’s the list of FASTEST INTERNET CONNECTIONS, sorted by country (as measured by average connection speed):

  1. South Korea
  2. Japan
  3. Hong Kong
  4. Switzerland
  5. Netherlands
  6. Latvia
  7. Czech Republic
