And if not football every week, you at least watch the Super Bowl with your friends or family. And who can’t remember the classic sounds of Howard Cosell calling a sporting event that big? It was magic, wasn’t it?
Do you always have to grab a hot dog, cotton candy, peanuts? Do you insist on wearing a rally cap, bringing a glove to the game in the hopes that you’ll catch a foul ball?
For some, it’s not a baseball game without a cold, frosty beer in their hands – delivered to your seat by an enterprising college student who knows the way to make a perfect pour into the tall plastic cup.
It’s almost football season here at Web Watch, and you know what that means — it’s time to get your FANTASY FOOTBALL TEAM NAME together, and start gathering the troops for another exciting season of Fantasy Sports.
Whether your passion is Fantasy Football, Fantasy Baseball, Fantasy Soccer, or some other pretend league, your spouse is likely asking the same question: with all the time you’re spending on this stupid hobby, why don’t you try doing something that can, you know, MAKE SOME MONEY?
Web Watch has always thought that it would be interesting to see an “all drugs allowed” Olympics.
Let anyone who wanted to compete fire up the latest steroid or health enhancement and duke it out. Everything would be on the up-and-up and open — which would be the key. All competitors would have to openly admit to what they were doping and be tested to prove it.
But you could do whatever you want. In that type of wide-open sporting environment, let’s break some records with an asterisk to see what the human body could be stretched to do if given the chance.
How many of Web Watch readers own a swimming pool?
Thought so. It’s always a popular item for your FRIENDS to have, but it’s seldom something that you want to invest in yourself. Some have said that a swimming pool is just a hole in the ground that you throw money into. Add to the equation how hard it can be to sell a house that has a swimming pool — some people won’t mind or will openly embrace the pool being there. Others will turn away from the pool at all costs, even if the rest of the house is perfect.
Sometimes owning a swimming pool just isn’t worth the time, hassle, and money for maintenance.
When was the last time you took a vacation. A real vacation, not just going off to visit family or friends in Bodunkville?
We thought so. You’re not able to get away on your own and really relax, are you? Web Watch understands – family obligations can make it difficult to plan the perfect vacation for those one or two weeks per year that you are able to get away from the workplace.
Back in the day (and it’s always “back in the day” with these types of stories, isn’t it?), Web Watch would be known to partake in a drinking game or two amongst friends.
Why? Mainly because the games themselves were kinda fun. A bit stupid, perhaps, but always a fun challenge. Drinking was merely secondary to the activity, as one never needs a “game” of any sort to take a drink whenever one would like.
The key, of course, is to know when to say when and back out of the activity. Drinking too much because of some stupid game rule is never a good idea for anyone.
Some people collect spoons, some people collect Hard Rock Cafe t-shirts from cities they’ve been. Some people do the Disney or Olympic pin trading thing, while others focus on specific types of artwork, or books.
Sure, it could lead to hoarding — but if your friends go out of their way to get you an item “because you have so many other things just like it”, then you just may already have a collection of sorts. And maybe it’s time to get some new friends.
It’s well known that the NFL and the NCAA both frown upon the large amount of office pool sports betting that goes on during their major events: the Super Bowl and the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament aka March Madness.
Add to the mix that the high stakes, unregulated dollars are being done mostly in an illegal fashion (that is, sports betting run by individuals may be illegal where you live), you can see why those organizations and local governments may be a bit concerned about the situation.
We won’t lie. Web Watch loves us some roller derby.
The matches are wildly entertaining, it’s a relatively inexpensive evening out, and you’ll be laughing and cheering for your favorites all night long. We can’t recommend attending a local match in your area highly enough.
