April 23rd is TALK LIKE SHAKESPEARE DAY

April 23rd is TALK LIKE SHAKESPEARE DAY.

It’s just like TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY, but more obscure.  April 23rd is Shakespeare’s birthday.

Be sure to check out the offical TALK LIKE SHAKESPEARE website for suggestions and tips on how to talk like Shakespeare.  Here are just a few of the things they suggest you do, to really sound like you know what Shakespeare would say today:

  • Use THOU instead of YOU (“Thou art a knave!”)
  • Use THEE instead of YOU (“I shalt give it to thee”)
  • THY is used instead of YOUR (“Thy dog is ugly”)
  • THINE is used instead of THY when the subject begins with a vowel (“Thine apple is rotten”)
  • YE refers to the entire group (“Gather ye around”)
