Top 100 Things Teens Search for Online




Symantec has released their list of the TOP 100 SEARCH TERMS TEENS USE ONLINE.

This list is from data tracked between February 2009 – July 2009, and comes from registered users of Symantec’s OnlineFamily.Norton, a service that parents can use to restrict or monitor their children’s Internet use when the parents are not available to look over their children’s shoulders.

The top 25 search terms from the list are:

  1. YouTube
  2. Google
  3. Facebook
  4. Sex
  5. MySpace
  6. Porn
  7. Yahoo
  8. Michael Jackson
  9. Fred (a popular YouTube video)
  10. eBay
  11. You Tube
  12. YouTube.com
  13. Gmail
  14. Wikipedia
  15. Miley Cyrus
  16. Webkinz
  17. Games
  18. Miniclip (online games)
  19. Taylor Swift
  20. Hotmail
  21. Norton Safety Minder
  22. Club Penguin
  23. Addicting games (online games)
  24. +Google.com
  25. +MySpace.com

It’s good to know that “Facebook” ranks higher than “Sex” and “Porn” in the top 25 items.

When viewing the full listing, parents may want to make note of the following as well:

  • “Boobs” came in at #28.
  • “Girls” and “Naked Girls” came in at #81 and #86, respectively.  “Disney” was at #85.
  • “Naked” was #88, and “Nude” and “Playboy” tied for #89.
  • “XXX” was #93.
