Who wants a roadtrip? LIFE names the top “must do” sporting events

We’ve all watched the infamous RUNNING OF THE BULLS festival from Spain, and just like Billy Crystal, have thought about what it would take to actually go through with the suggestion and run with the bulls ourselves.

Web Watch is not one of those who have felt the need to participate.  Watch and cheer, sure.  But from the safety of some balcony overlooking the craziness.

LIFE magazine has released their list of the TOP 34 MUST-SEE SPORTING EVENTS AND SPORT LOCATIONS.  To them, this represents the ultimate sports “bucket list” that everyone should attempt to complete. 

Among the items that LIFE deems bucket-worthy are:

• The Kentucky Derby
• Fenway Park
• 100 Meter Finals at the Olympics
• Lambeau Field
• Tour de France on the Champs-Élysées
• Ski Jumping Finals at the Winter Olympics
• St. Andrews Old Course
• The World Cup
• Baseball Hall of Fame, Cooperstown
• Daytona 500

But really, the Westminster Dog Show?  The Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest?  Obviously, some of these “sports events” are more “events” than “sport”.
