Web Watch would like to take a moment to salute the marketing geniuses at McDonald’s for continuing the McDONALD’s MONOPOLY PROMOTION.  It combines two great things into a singular quest to find the special missing sticker that will complete your game board.  Boo-ya!

Let’s cut straight to the chase:  there is absolutely nothing for you to do that will affect your ability to win this contest… other than doing everything you can to obtain as many game pieces as possible in the hopes that one of them is a rare chaser piece.

Here are the list of 2010 McDONALD’S RARE MONOPOLY PIECES:

  • Mediterranean Avenue
  • Vermont Avenue
  • Virginia Avenue
  • Tennessee Avenue
  • Kentucky Avenue
  • Short Line Railroad
  • Ventnor Avenue
  • Pennsylvania Avenue
  • Boardwalk

If you have one of these, then RUN to your closest McDonald’s and eat your way to get the other pieces you need.  Shouldn’t be too hard to find them.

What strikes Web Watch as funny is that on sites like the one above and this one, fanatical people from across the country are posting their email addresses and phone numbers, begging for anyone with one of those winning pieces to give them a call so they can split the prizes.

Really?

You REALLY thought that was a good idea?

Here’s what you should do instead.  Just go to your local McDonald’s and buy a bunch of hash browns.  They’re the cheapest item on the menu that comes with game pieces, and just barely beats out sending a SASE for free pieces from McD’s.  Try travelling to different McDonald’s — the company tries to spread the prize wealth around, so you should stay on the move as well.

On the other hand, if a McDonald’s BIG MAC is more your thing, then here’s a CALCULATOR TO DETERMINE HOW MANY BIG MACS YOU SHOULD EAT TO WIN a prize.   Lookee, a $500 Wal-Mart gift card will require you to eat 974,539 Big Macs (on average, assuming the 1:5,465,112 chance of winning — your actual ingestion… or indigestion… may differ).

The real money to be made, apparently, is selling the My Coke Rewards points to people who are participating in that program.  Luckily, there’s a weekly limit for point entry – but if you know anyone paying for those codes then that could be some free money to come your way.

Look on the bright side – even if you do EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO MAXIMIZE YOUR PLAY PIECES, someone who hasn’t been paying attention could still just go and throw their winning game pieces away, leaving the top $1,000,000 prize unclaimed.

It could happen…
