The Gayest Cities in America

Web Watch knows a few people who have moved around the country for their relationships (or lack thereof in their former location).

We understand how important it can be to feel included in one’s neighborhood (whether that neighborhood is as small as a few city blocks, a suburban subdivision, or a larger metropolitan area).  If you’re comfortable with WHO you are, but not comfortable WHERE you are, then chances are it’s not you that’s the problem, it’s those who are around you that are.

And so we find ourselves reading THE ADVOCATE’s list of the GAYEST CITIES IN AMERICA.  Because let’s be honest – we’re all about good food, good music, good times – and every city on this list is a prime example of where you can find those things that appeal to all sorts of folks.

This list was based on nine different criteria, ranging from the important (political, corporate, shopping) to the more silly line items (roller derby, rugby).  Per capita was taken into consideration, and all that leads to the following cities:

  1. Tacoma, Washington
  2. Springfield, Massachusetts
  3. Spokane, Washington
  4. Washington DC
  5. Seattle, Washington
  6. Salt Lake City, Utah
  7. Eugene, Oregon
  8. Madison, Wisconsin
  9. Atlanta, Georgia
  10. Minneapolis/St Paul, Minnesota
  11. Oakland, California
  12. Providence, Rhode Island
  13. Colorado Springs, Colorado
  14. Salem, Oregon
  15. St Louis

You’ll want to click through to The Advocate’s website to view the reasoning behind each cities’ inclusion on this list, as well as to see the TOP 10 RUNNERS-UP (Honorable Mention), of those cities that are still worthy for inclusion, but just missed the cut on one category or another.
