Women overseas are almost always the first to try new fashion trends. From France to Japan to Brazil – other countries are often at the forefront of what we’ll be seeing American women adopt in the upcoming months and years.
But do we think that Korea’s latest fashion trend will catch on?
First – let’s address one thing about the image accompanying this piece — the Merkin Set – Dare to Wear Body Hair<img src=”http://ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=webwat05d-20&l=as2&o=1&a=B00A784PP6″ width=”1″ height=”1″ border=”0″ alt=”” style=”border:none !important; margin:0px !important;” /> shown here.

WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD — small parts. Not for children under 3 yrs.
Really? REALLY? That disclaimer – while appropriately true, merkins are not toys, they shouldn’t be for children, and they definitely are a choking hazard – has all SORTS of humor associated with it. Oh, we’re sure the Amazon copywriters had a field day with that one.
But we digress – let’s get back to the point at hand, in that KOREAN WOMEN ARE GETTING PUBLIC HAIR TRANSPLANTS now, rather than going down the path of shaving everything off they’re trying to make their hair down there much more like a forest. A basket of Easter grass. A meadow. (insert your own euphemism here)
Oh yes, growing everything back instead of getting rid of it all is making a comeback, but who would have thought that the next step beyond NOT shaving and NOT lasering would be to purposefully surgically adding more rather than the more traditional “grow it”.
Of course we realize that some women may not be able to grow back at that same level they used to when they were younger, and perhaps some women have realized that maybe they shouldn’t have gone the laser route after all. Hair transplants are painful – one can only imagine that such a personal transplant would hurt even more than the traditional one on the scalp.
What do you think – is this the start of a new surgical fashion trend? Or is this one bandwagon that you really don’t think you’ll jump on?
