How long can you hold it?

No, we’re not talking about how long can you go without peeing (although we have seen that there can be issues, such as the infamous Hold Your Wee for a Wii contest that resulted in a competitor’s death).

The free $500 Red Star WorldWear gift card – is it worth it?

Rock Star Sunglasses
Rock Star Sunglasses

So the other day, Web Watch was flipping through one of our myriad of magazine subscriptions when one of those annoying response card things fell into our lap.

But before we could toss it away as we do all the others, we noticed there was something different about it.  This one had gift card attached to it.

A $500 gift card.

“Whoa,” we said.  What did we do to deserve this, other than subscribe to a magazine or two?

Are you one of those guys who decided to grow a mustache for Movember, to bring awareness for men’s health issues?

How big of a nerd are you? Try taking the 2011 Geek Test

The Geeks Shall Inherit the Earth: Popularity, Quirk Theory, and Why Outsiders Thrive After High School
The Geeks Shall Inherit the Earth:
Popularity, Quirk Theory, and Why Outsiders Thrive After High School

Web Watch knows that we’re a bit of a computer nerd.  Some would say that “geek” would be the more appropriate term.  To paraphrase a recent episode of CSI, a “freak” is someone who is naturally talented in unusual ways; a “geek” is one who learns how to do the same things.

So we’ll go with “geek”, as all computer knowledge is learned – whether it be via formal school education or by tinkering around with gadgets and on the Internet for hours/days/weeks/years on end to see how things works and to make thinks work better.

Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs were nerds, and they’re proud of it.

Which brings us to our initial question: How big of a geek are you?

Before you tweet that web address, you should find out how fresh that site is

2009 Internet Directory
2009 Internet Directory

We all have those friends who tell us, “please don’t email me about that website.  We’ve seen it already.”

Web Watch will admit — while we try to make every post we share with you a new and timely one, every once in a while we dig back into our website archives to bring you a link to a site or something else on the web that may be a little dusty in terms of timeliness.

Hey, it happens.  We’ve shared literally thousands of links with Web Watch readers over the years — a few of the more common sites may filter through on occasion.

How many slaves work for you? (it all depends on where you live, and what you buy)

Business Ethics: Case Studies and Selected Readings
Business Ethics: Case Studies and Selected Readings

Do you know what your SLAVERY FOOTPRINT is?

Think about it — where you live, the clothes you wear, the products you buy… much of it comes from overseas where business ethics and governmental oversights may not be as stringent as they are in America.

Ultimate pick-up line revised: “Hey babe, what’s your number?” (Ours is 3.4 billion)

Population Control: Real Costs, Illusory Benefits
Population Control: Real Costs, Illusory Benefits

Today they expect there to be 7 BILLION PEOPLE ON EARTH.

That’s a lot of mouths to feed, people to clothe, waste to process.

One could expect that the Earth — or our modern infrastructure — was not built to sustain this type of function.  More people just means more needs: from power to water, places to live, medicines, beds, etc…

No more does the old adage of a man and a wife deciding to procreate to have two children to replace them when the parents die; we’re seeing larger and larger families come around in countries around the world, putting a strain on systems that were never designed to carry that type of load.

The Most Relaxing Music in the World

Marconi Union: A Lost Connection
Marconi Union: A Lost Connection

Web Watch is often asked about the best ways to relax.

Some people like to go to a spa, others like to go to the beach or pool and just lie there doing nothing.

Some watch TV, others read books.

And then there’s the group that like to relax by listening to music.

Perfect for Halloween – get a mask of your own face

Chimpanzee Alive - Animatronic Robot MonkeyChimpanzee Alive – Animatronic Monkey Robot

Who wouldn’t want to walk into a room full of people all wearing your own face as their Halloween costume?

Or, you could creep people out by “going as yourself” for Halloween, and still fulfilling the requirement of actually wearing a Halloween mask instead of just being a fun-sucker by not participating in the festivities.

Coversmart: The Album Cover Art Quiz

The Art of the Album Cover
The Art of the Album Cover

How well do you know your album covers?

Maybe not as well as you thought, especially if key components of said cover have been Photoshopped out, just like we’ve seen with the INVISIBLES game a few years ago – you remember that one, where people were digitally erased out of movie scenes and you had to guess what the film was?

Want to own a Reality TV house? Here’s what it will cost you…

Real Housewives of Beverly HillsReal Housewives of Beverly Hills

We all watch a little bit of trashy Reality TV.  In part because we marvel at the extravagant homes and lifestyles these people live.

Who wouldn’t want to be them – sans camera crews – for just a day or two?

Who would want to live in one of those absolutely gorgeous homes?  Well, it turns out that you can, as many of them are available for sale or rent to anyone willing to pony up some cash.

What’s a Sex Surrogate?

Private Practices: The Story of a Sex Surrogate
Private Practices: The Story of a Sex Surrogate

Have you ever heard about a SEX SURROGATE and wondered what it was?

Fox News recently wrote an article about it, and summed it up with this:

“…some sex therapists turn to surrogate partners – people who help patients with intimacy issues using a hands-on approach. This can include having sex with the patient.”

What?  You mean to say that there are doctors who can prescribe sex to their patients, and there’s an actual service those patients can turn to that will have sex with them “for medical reasons”?

It sounds like it’s borderline prostitution, but where there is a medical need, what other choice does one have?
