Negotiate like the Pros
Negotiate like the Pros

If you are active in a fantasy sports league with your friends, then you probably have run into a situation where you’re trying to make a specific deal and something horribly goes wrong.

Maybe its that you pulled some stunt regarding whether a player was on waivers or not.  Maybe you backed out of a deal at the last minute because you had some insider information that wasn’t available to the general public.  Really, it could be anything that really would make Ari Gold blush.

So what do you do after you’ve exhausted all reasonable alternatives and still have a stalemate?

You call in the FANTASY SPORTS LEGAL EXPERTS, SPORTSJUDGE.COM.

Movie geeks and the most quoted movie lines of all time

Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Web Watch was looking at plants at the local nursery the other day, and we couldn’t help but say, “Get me a shrubbery!” to the salesperson who was trying to help us.

Needless to say, we ended up making our own landscaping selections that day, and we can’t really say that we blame the retail shop for not providing a high level of customer service to any customer who decides that quoting Monty Python is the best way to get what we want.

But that’s how movie fans are.

Once we see a film with a great line of dialogue in it, we want to quote that line over and over.  Run it into the ground, if we had the choice.

10 Vices that are Good for You: Wine, Chocolate, Sleeping…and more

When one thinks about “vice”, they usually think of one of the following:

  • MIAMI VICE – the classic 80′s NBC TV show that glorified cops and crime in Miami with neon, pastel t-shirts, and loafers with no socks
  • VICE – the alternative magazine
  • The VICE SQUAD at your local police department – busting criminals focused on sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll
  • Or the sinfully-delicious habits that some of us partake in when we believe nobody is looking

Being sinful is sometimes just in one’s own mind.  And because of that, there are 10 SINFUL VICES THAT ARE ACTUALLY HEALTHY FOR YOU.  Because when we think “vices”, we don’t often think about why we enjoy these so much:

Cee-Lo Green makes an awesome radio-friendly single (if “radio-friendly” means “nsfw”)

The song F*** You, from Cee-Lo Green‘s upcoming album The Ladykiller. How can you not want to blast this at full volume as you drive down the road, singing along with the windows rolled down?

That’s what Web Watch has been doing -- join in the fun!

Besides, Web Watch likes any artist who will rhyme “Ferrari” with “Atari”.

Full NSFW lyrics below the break, if you don’t want to read ‘em in the video itself.

Read “Cast Member Confidential” for behind-the-scenes Disney fun

Cast Member Confidential
Cast Member Confidential -a Disney Employee Memoir

If you’re a Disney park fan, then one thing that you’re probably interested in is some of the behind-the-scenes stories about what it’s REALLY like to work at the Most Magical Place on Earth.

Sure, you could read KEVIN YEE’s book MOUSETRAP: MEMOIR OF A DISNEYLAND CAST MEMBER, or maybe even Inside the Mouse: Work and Play at Disney World, The Project on Disney, based on interviews with former Disney employees.  Both are excellent books for what they cover, and Web Watch recommends them highly.

But sometimes works like those can offer some views of life at Walt Disney World or Disneyland that are a bit more whitewashed than how things actually were.  Looking at working at the Mouse with rose-colored glasses, if you will.

Sometimes we want to see a truth that’s a bit more unadulterated and unfiltered.

Sometimes we want to really pull back the curtain and see what life really is like to work as a cast member at one of the World’s Busiest Theme Parks.

Here’s a better question:  when was the last time you drank so much that you did pass out?

Better still:  does anyone have photos of you passed out?

Buying a car off Craigslist? Here are some things to look out for

How to Buy a Car
How to Buy a Car

Buying a used car can be a scary experience, as can selling one.

A few years ago, Web Watch had reason to sell our 14-year-old truck, after 200,000 miles.  The vehicle still ran perfectly fine.  We kept up-to-date with oil changes and other maintenance, but it was starting to get some quirks that were becoming more annoying than not.

The sunroof would leak on occasion.  The radio was flaky.  The dashboard illumination lights were starting to burn out.  And we think – but can’t prove – that there was an oil leak that would have been rather costly to repair.  The rear passenger door wouldn’t close unless you knew how to shut the door the right way.  There were a few other things, but the truck ran great and could get you where you were going.  Still, it was time to ditch the truck for something newer and sportier.

Wedding Planning for Dummies
Wedding Planning for Dummies

Your wedding is going to be wonderful.

You’ve been planning it for months, if not years.

You know every little thing that you can do to make your wedding absolutely perfect.

Yet, what you don’t know is that every single idea you have that you think will make your wedding “cool” and “quirky” — you know, to show off how much fun you and your wedding are — is something that every other bride has already thought of doing….and has run into the ground into cliche-ville.

How to determine the shelf life of foods in your pantry, freezer, or refrigerator

Mountain House canned food - 25 year long shelf life
Mountain House canned food – 25 year long shelf life

One common food joke is that Hostess Twinkies can survive through almost anything, with an infinite shelf life.  Truth be told, the common Twinkie’s shelf life is a more realistic 25-days.  Seriously – who even keeps Twinkies in the house that long?

Every once in a while, you should take the time to clean out your pantry.  It’s not just a good idea from a re-organizational viewpoint, but also as a way to rotate the older foods you have stacked in the back of the cupboard towards the front so that they can be used in a more timely manner.

Yes, everything in your pantry has a shelf life – except for honey, which can pretty much be stored indefinitely.  Sometimes things will merely go stale, such as crackers or cereals.  Other pantry items will turn rancid and become inedible and should be tossed to prevent anyone from getting sick from eating it.

Drink This, Not That: Lose weight through smarter drinking habits

Drink This, Not That
Drink This, Not That!

Web Watch has always been a fan of the EAT THIS, NOT THAT series of books from Men’s Health, which boil down dieting and weight-loss to one simple task:  you may not be exercising as much as you want to, and you may not be eating as healthy as you would like to — but making the right choices in eating can help offset the lack of exercise.

Remember, gaining and losing weight is paritally to do with the number and type of calories and fat that you take in.  So change your meals, and even if you do nothing else – you should lose some weight simply by eating better.

The premise of their latest book, DRINK THIS, NOT THAT concentrates specifically on beverages, and what you should substitute when you go out for a drink.  Not a lot has changed between the 2009 DRINKS YOU SHOULD DRINK, AND DRINKS THAT YOU SHOULDN’T and the 2010 LIST OF DRINK THIS, NOT THAT CONTENDERS, so let’s take a look at some of what’s listed in their HALL OF SHAME:
