TextAppeal – For Guys! – The Ultimate Texting Guide

A quick survey: how many of you regularly send texts while driving or otherwise sitting behind the wheel of your car?

Yeah, we thought so.

Texting while driving has increased 50% over 2011.   20% of all drivers say that they’ve done this, despite laws and other regulations in place that make it an offense to do so.

How to escape the police in a high-speed car chase

Lego City Police Chase 3648
Lego City Police Chase 3648

Web Watch would never suggest that you ever evade the police by providing this information to our readers.

Think of this merely as an explanation of how all those criminals manage to escape getting into police custody in those high-action summer movies.

You, being a law-abiding citizen, would pull over immediately upon seeing the flashing blue lights in your rearview mirror, right?  Right.

Save money by shortening your commute

Music For Commuting
Music For Commuting

The longest daily commute to work that Web Watch has ever had to do regularly involved a car, two trains, and a 4-block walk.  Surprisingly, under the best conditions, this 60+ mile one-way trek could be done door-to-door in an hour.

It wasn’t an hour trip very often.

And let’s face it – long commutes kind of suck.  No wonder people often decide to move their living situation to be closer to work.

When you say you “love your car”, you mean you really LOVE your car

Herbie the Love Bug (French)
Herbie the Love Bug (French)

If someone asks you “how much do you love your car”, you shouldn’t be asking yourself whether the person is inquiring about whether you physically make love to your car, or just appreciate what your car brings to your life and well-being.

No, we don’t need to know about your lovelife with your car, no matter how much you like it’s fast moves and sleek lines.

But that’s not necessarily was discovered in RECENT STUDIES OF CAR LOVERS.  No, it looks like the folks at Jiffy Lube and InsuranceQuotes.com had other things on their mind with their line of questioning.  Let’s take a look…

Science proves many pick-up truck drivers are idiots

1956 GMC Pickup
1956 GMC Pickup

Web Watch was driving down the highway the other day when we were almost part of an accident waiting to happen.

The doofus in the pick-up truck in front of us ended up slamming on his brakes for some reason, which led to all of us behind him having to quickly do the same.  While we had plenty of braking room in front of us under normal circumstances, he had his pickup truck tailgate down, taking away an extra foot of available brake space from our squealing tires.

Luckily, this was during the day and we could see that the tailgate was down, but if this same situation happened at night, that truck would be minus one tailgate and we would be minus one engine.

Buying a car off Craigslist? Here are some things to look out for

How to Buy a Car
How to Buy a Car

Buying a used car can be a scary experience, as can selling one.

A few years ago, Web Watch had reason to sell our 14-year-old truck, after 200,000 miles.  The vehicle still ran perfectly fine.  We kept up-to-date with oil changes and other maintenance, but it was starting to get some quirks that were becoming more annoying than not.

The sunroof would leak on occasion.  The radio was flaky.  The dashboard illumination lights were starting to burn out.  And we think – but can’t prove – that there was an oil leak that would have been rather costly to repair.  The rear passenger door wouldn’t close unless you knew how to shut the door the right way.  There were a few other things, but the truck ran great and could get you where you were going.  Still, it was time to ditch the truck for something newer and sportier.

A Car Powered by Mountain Dew

Albequerque, New Mexico’s Paul Patone knows his engines, and Paul knows his soda.

Paul would be the first one to say that soda, particularly Mountain Dew, is literally his driving force.

Why’s that?  Because Paul has figured out how to CONVERT HIS CAR SO IT RUNS ON MOUNTAIN DEW INSTEAD OF GASOLINE.
