Is it better to rent or buy a home?

Should you RENT OR BUY a home? That’s the question on everyone’s mind these days.

And the question isn’t always an easy one to answer – all sorts of variables come into play that make that decision different for each homebuyer. But sometimes it comes down to the answer to this one question:

WILL YOU CREATE WEALTH FASTER IF YOU BUY A HOME TO BUILD EQUITY *or* SHOULD YOU RENT, AND REINVEST THE MONEY YOU WOULD HAVE SPENT ON TAXES, INSURANCE, AND MAINTENANCE?

Luckily, somebody’s already done that work for you.

How to tell who died in a house before you buy it

Web Watch was talking with a real estate agent the other day about new home construction, and we thought we’d ask, “has anyone every inquired whether the new home was built on an ancient Indian burial ground?”.

They looked at us blankly, and said “yes”.  It’s a quite common question for them, it seems, whether it be new home construction or even trying to find out a bit more about existing home sales.

What does a home inspector look for?

When was the last time you bought or sold a house?

In today’s economy, it’s the perfect time to buy a house with super-low interest rates (currently hovering around the 3.2%-3.8% range… dirt cheap money).  And with the low amount of resale housing inventory, it’s also the perfect time to sell your house… assuming it’s in relatively good condition.

In other words, it’s both a buyer’s and a seller’s market – at least at certain price points and in certain neighborhoods.

So now that you’ve decided to buy (or sell) your home, what are things that you can do to insure that you’re getting a good deal and not some money pit?

How To Build a Life-Size Gingerbread House (Recipe)

Who wouldn’t want to live in an edible house?

You wouldn’t have to worry about vacuuming the crumbs up off the floor.  Sleeping would be delightful, on a soft marshmallow cloud.  And repairs would be as easy as mixing up some royal frosting.

But if you really thought about it, building a 2000 square foot sized house entirely out of gingerbread can be a slightly daunting task.  But Web Watch found a site that can make this easier for you.

How much do fictional houses cost in the real world?

We’ve all played our fair share of board games and video games over the years, and have watched any number of movies and TV shows.

The one thing all of these have in common is that they take place at some location, somewhere around the world.

And we’ve all pretty much wondered the same thing:

How to track historical weather patterns – useful info when buying a new home

Whenever you’re looking to buy a new house, you take into account all sort of things that are important:

  • is the neighborhood safe?
  • are the neighbors seemingly social in the manner you would enjoy?
  • are the homes and yards kept up?
  • have the home prices appreciated properly, or were they overpriced and all underwater?
  • what’s the ratio of rentals to ownership?
  • how long is the commute to work?  to the local grocery store?

and more…

But there is one thing that many people don’t consider when they’re looking to get into a new home:

Prince was right: Purple bedrooms are voted “most romantic”

What color is your bedroom?

Do you like a vibrant, brothel-colored RED bedroom?  Or are you more of a cool, soothing off-white neutral color (because it helps with the home sale)?

Colors can certainly affect ones mood – but now surveys show us that there’s one mood that color REALLY has an effect on:
