The winner of the 2010 dirtiest hotel in America is in San Francisco. Are you surprised, or not?

Hotel Sleep Sack

We’ve all been travelled a bit across the country and have been disgusted by what we’ve found in a dirty hotel room, right?

Web Watch recalls one hotel we stayed at that was so disgusting that we did everything we could to avoid touching anything in the room (we didn’t have much choice as to where else to stay, and it was only for one night – we figured we could stick it out for a few hours. Of course, we didn’t have a hotel sleep sack to use at the time — that would have been most awesome!).

One year, a travelling companion of ours found a used condom on the floor of her off-strip hotel in Las Vegas. You’d think the cleaning folks would have noticed it was there and destroyed the evidence. (She ended up getting her night comped, but not before subjecting the hotel manager with some very harsh words.)

Even the local news stations have run reports on how you’re not supposed to drink out of the in-room glassware or use the in-room coffee pot at even the fanciest expensive hotels, because those items may not be cleaned in as regular a time period (or in a sanitary way) as a guest would like.  Just saying…

The point is that TripAdvisor has released their list of the TOP 10 DIRTIEST HOTELS IN AMERICA, based on survey results they have received from world travellers.

Movie Review: UP IN THE AIR

Up In The Air

Rated R for brief nudity, language, and obscene product placement imagery
Rating: A-

UP IN THE AIR is one of those high-concept films that tend to leave some audience members baffled at whether what they saw was good or not, yet they still leave the theater satisfied that the answer is “yes”… even if they can’t exactly say why that is.

George Clooney is typecast as himself – a charming guy who lives for travel and wearing suits – who is playing a character whose job it is to fly around the country and fire people.

If we learn just one thing today, it’s this: St Louis residents have NO style whatsoever

1000 Places to See Before You DieIf you travel a lot, then you probably have as many opinions about the places you visit as you have visited places.

But for those who don’t get to see the world for free, we have to rely on others to tell us what to believe.  TRAVEL + LEISURE magazine recently conducted a survey to determine AMERICA’S FAVORITE CITY.  So of course, Web Watch is braving the way to tell you exactly which of the 30 cities surveyed come out on top, and which ones (like St Louis) are floundering at the bottom.

Who wants a roadtrip? LIFE names the top “must do” sporting events

Running of the BullsWe’ve all watched the infamous RUNNING OF THE BULLS festival from Spain, and just like Billy Crystal, have thought about what it would take to actually go through with the suggestion and run with the bulls ourselves.

Web Watch is not one of those who have felt the need to participate.  Watch and cheer, sure.  But from the safety of some balcony overlooking the craziness.

LIFE magazine has released their list of the TOP 34 MUST-SEE SPORTING EVENTS AND SPORT LOCATIONS.  To them, this represents the ultimate sports “bucket list” that everyone should attempt to complete.

Smelly People Should be Banned from Buses and Roller Coasters

Hawaiians have it right.

Tomorrow, the Honolulu City Council is going to consider a bill that will BAN PEOPLE WITH EXCESSIVE BODY ODOR FROM RIDING PUBLIC TRANSIT.

And the bill is written so that it isn’t just bad B.O. that will get a rider kicked off the bus – it’s having anything stinky on or about your person that “disturbs or interferes with others”.

Carrying a stinky garlic pizza with extra garlic?  Off the bus.

Extreme workout at the office gym and forget your deodorant?  Off the bus.

Have a wet dog with dingleberries?  Off the bus.
