How much is your favorite celebrity worth?

The Millionaire Next Door
The Millionaire Next Door

Do you live next door to a celebrity?

Well, let’s assume that you don’t know your neighbors very well.  In that case, it’s quite possible that you DO live next door to a celeb and don’t even know it.

That’s because some celebrities like to keep a low-profile when it comes to their personal home life.  Web Watch had to pay a visit to a celeb’s house a while back (yeah, you’d recognize their name if we told you who it was), and their home was nestled in between two trailer parks out in the boonies – nice place, but not exactly living the glorified high life from a location viewpoint.

Take the 100 Thing Challenge #100TC

The 100 Thing Challenge: How I Got Rid of Almost Everything, Remade My Life, and Regained My Soul
The 100 Thing Challenge:
How I Got Rid of Almost Everything, Remade My Life, and Regained My Soul

How much “stuff” do you have?

George Carlin used to joke about needing a “place for your stuff”.  Look around – it’s just a bunch of stuff lying around your house, isn’t it?

Stuff you don’t need.

Stuff you can’t even remember why it’s there in the first place.

Stuff you have to decide to leave behind if a flood comes.  Stuff you have to recover if you were ever burgled.  Stuff you might need to list in a divorce proceeding. Stuff you’ll have to go through once your parents pass away years from now.

Have you ever thought that maybe you have too much stuff?

NOMA: Time and Place in Nordic Cuisine
NOMA: A Time and Place in Nordic Cuisine
(a look at the World’s Best Restaurant)

If you, like Web Watch, like to travel to the Best Places in the World, then you have most definitely heard of Denmark’s Noma, a 12-seat restaurant just outside Copenhagen.

Of course you’ve heard of Noma – it’s only been named the BEST RESTAURANT IN THE WORLD for 2011.   Still doesn’t ring a bell?  Does it help if it also earned the Best Restaurant title in 2010 also?

Yeah, now you know what we’re talking about.

So while RESTAURANT magazine can’t go and visit every single restaurant in the world, they do have a pretty good handle on who the top chefs are and what makes them tick.  Sure, the majority of these top places are located in Europe, but that shouldn’t stop you from trying to make your way to any of these fine establishments for a gourmet meal that you’ll never forget.

Tacky Tourists Taking Photos of Tacky Things

Tacky Tourist Costume
Tacky Tourists

Some people travel to be educated about an area’s history.

Some travel to try different cuisines, or to learn about different culture.

But after you’ve done all that, you may still have another 20 hours of the day to kill, wandering around a strange or unfamiliar city looking for something to do.

And that’s why you may find yourself, with camera in hand, looking for the underbelly of interesting things in your new locale.  There may not be a HARD ROCK CAFE or PLANET HOLLYWOOD nearby for you to buy a T-shirt from, but there may be something equally awesome.

We’ve got the ultimate list of tacky Christmas light displays right here

Christmas Light Show Music Programming Master 2.0 Holiday Lighting Control Software
Light Show Master 2.0 Holiday Lighting Control Software -
perfect for creating your own Music-Synchronized Holiday Light Display

About 20 years ago, Web Watch was lucky enough to attend a Toys for Tots benefit event, where each new, unwrapped toy allowed you to hop onto a beaten-up school bus with 40 other people and a keg of beer, and drive all over the countryside looking at the area’s craziest Christmas light displays for an hour.

Along the way, the bus driver got lost in the boonies, and the 60-minute scheduled trip ended up taking three hours (requiring an extra stop at a late-night liquor store for additional road supplies and a much-needed bathroom stop).  Needless to say, we did our own Tacky Light Tour the following year with much better success at getting home on time.

Fast-forward 20 years, and we can see how the Internet has really changed things dramatically when it comes to viewing Christmas light displays.

Marriott Gift Card
Marriott Gift Card

When was the last time you stayed at a fancy hotel with nothing to do, and f0und yourself ordering up one of the hotel’s pay-per-view movie or gaming options?

If you’re like any of the people who often did this, you probably also haven’t done this recently.

Web Watch knows this because we read that HOTEL REVENUES FROM IN-ROOM SERVICES HAVE DROPPED in 2010.

A recent survey of 5,000 men and women by an online shopping site had some bad news about the hygiene habits of people in the UK.

For example, they found that 7% OF WOMEN SURVEYED DO NOT CHANGE THEIR UNDERWEAR DAILY.

Remember when WEB WATCH SAID THAT UNDERWEAR CONTAINS A 10th of a GRAM OF POOP?  You may want to revist that article after reading the rest of these stats…

21 words of advice for touring musicians: #2 on the list? Claim your farts

Fart in a Jar
Fart in a Jar

When bands travel around the country, they usually start out in a van of some sort before finally hitting it big and being able to rent — or if they’re smart, owning — their own tour bus.

And on every band tour bus that Web Watch has been on, they’ve all had one rule posted.

The toilet is only for pee.  No #2 in the bus toilet.

This same rule applies for rental RVs.  Those of you who have taken a weekend trip in one know exactly what Web Watch means about this being one of the most important rules to follow.

Musician Thor Harris has compiled a LIST OF 21 RULES FOR ALL TRAVELLING BANDS that is not just applicable to aspiring artists, but should be something that is posted for anyone planning a road trip with their buddies.  Web Watch has posted a few of Thor’s tips below the cut:
