What would you do for a dollar?

What would you do for a dollar?

It’s a fair question.  Web Watch has offered $1 to many friends when they said they’d do “anything for money”.  Apparently, it seems, a single dollar was not what they had in mind when they made the offer.

We say that if you’re going to offer to do anything for money, you should definitely lower your expectation of what dollar amount is going to be offered to you.  What you think you’re worth may not be the same as what others believe.

What is the cheapest Vegas hotel worth staying at?

The other day, Web Watch was chatting with friends who were about to embark on their very first weekend trip to Las Vegas.

Being recently out of college, they were concerned that they wouldn’t have enough money to have a decent hotel room, food other than a $0.99 foot-long hot dog, some gambling, some clubbing, taxis… well, you get the drift.

One of the questions they asked us was for recommendations on saving a little bit of money – but not to go all crazy. After all, this is VEGAS we’re talking about, and they really wanted to live it up BIG on whatever money they could afford to spend.

How to tell if an item is on sale at your local store

Have you ever been to a store like Target or Costco and see something you’d like to buy – but set it back on the shelf because you “know it’s going to be on sale soon anyway, so why should I buy it now?”

JCPenney went through this thought process recently and said “why wait for a sale? our prices will always be the sale price!”… and their sales plummeted.  It ends up that people LOVE shopping sales, and JCP reinstated a higher regular pricing vs lower sales pricing model like all other retail stores.

Contrary to popular belief, Hawaii is NOT the most expensive place to live in the US

Did you know that one of the busiest Costco’s in the country is just outside the airport in Hawaii?

People fly in, taxi over to the Costco, and purchase their entire vacation supply immediately upon landing.  It’s cheaper to do it this way than it is to ship everything over yourself or to buy provisions at the grocery store.

Hawaii gets a bum wrap about this – their prices may be higher than on the continental 48 states, but that doesn’t mean that Hawaii is the most expensive place in the country to live, does it?

Why Your K-Cup Coffee Habit Sucks

How much do you love your coffee?

Are you so totally addicted that you have to have a couple of cups of coffee at the drive-thru even before you get to the office, then brew your own “special” pot just because you can?  Do you have your own coffee station in your bedroom or master bathroom, because coffee is The Most Important Thing for your Morning?

Then maybe you’re one of those people who went out and purchased the KEURIG K-CUP COFFEE BREWING STATION, in part for the easy convenience of being able to brew a single cup of coffee without having to brew up an entire pot.

For households that have just one coffee drinker in the family, the Keurig system certainly makes sense.  Less mess, less waste.  How could this be a bad idea?

20 Ways to Save a TON of Money (and survive living on a budget)

Living on a budget is one of those things that everybody should do at least once in their lives.

Clearly, college students have figured this out.  They know where all the cheap beer is, what bars do free food at happy hour, and how many weekend meals you can get out of a single large pizza delivered at 2a on a Friday night.

For college kids, frugality is necessity.

And then they get their first job out of college and a paycheck, and it all goes to hell, racking up tens of thousands of dollars in credit card debt, never to be able to take a real vacation ever again.
