Ever year, a new workd or phrase enters into the lexicon, and quickly provides cannon fodder for comedians for something that immediately dates the timeframe it was uttered in.
Was it just 40 years ago when The Fonz popularied “Heeeeeeyyyyy”? Who says that anymore? Or John Belushi’s “Excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee” rally cry?
It’s that time of year again for Lake Superior State University to release their list of WORDS THAT THEY WANT BANNED FOR THE UPCOMING YEAR (2014 edition):
- Selfie
- Twerk
- Hashtag
- Twittersphere
- Mr Mom
- T-Bone (as a verb)
- “_________ on steroids”
- Using “-ageddon” or “-pocalypse” at the end of words. As in “Miley Cyrus created a twerkpocalypse at the MTV Video Music Awards. It was like twerkageddon in there!”
- Intellectually (or Morally) Bankrupt
- Obamacare
- Adversity
- Fan Base
