The cost of having noisy sex? $315

When was the last time that your neighbors called the police on you?

It could be for anything, really.  But generally speaking, Web Watch has found that neighborhood police involvement typically revolves around an abuse of noise levels in the area.

Loud parties, loud music, loud fights.   All are fairly common complaints.

But loud sex?  That’s a different story altogether, isn’t it?

Try telling that to Jessica Angel and Colin MacKenzie of South Australia.

Their neighbors have called the police over 20 times for “exceeding noise pollution levels” and “disturbing the public peace”, caused – it seems – by their over-the-top noisy lovemaking sessions.

Yes, they were fined $315 for making love in their own home.

They were also subsequently arrested for continuing to be extremely loud in the days that followed the initial police visit, but what else would you expect from a couple who claims that their “average sex goes anywhere from four, six, seven hours, bascially five nights a week”.

Web Watch has a fairly good idea what’s happening on those other two weeknights:  recovery, of everything from the vocal chords on down.

In case you were wondering, the neighbors were complaining of “screaming, loud moaning, swearing, and raised voices”.  Sounds like just another day in suburbia to us.

So what do you think?  Were Jessica and Colin treated unfairly?  Should they have been fined and arrested for simply loving each other too much?  Or should some other solution have been found – like soundproofing their bedroom walls – that would alleviate the situation?

Or a better question:  when was the last time your lovemaking was interrupted by the police?  Have a story to share – leave it in the comments below….
