Does anyone remember that FOX TV reality show MR PERSONALITY?
On this dating show, the male contestants all wore masks to hide their facial features from their potential love interest. The concept was that for any pure relationship to work, one’s personality should take priority over one’s looks.
Obviously, with the subsequent success of shows without masks like THE BACHELOR, the American TV audience is more interested in the visuals and sex appeal of their reality TV contestants rather than the more sincere personality-driven programming.
Which brings us to today’s topic: SHOULD YOU DATE SOMEONE WHO HAS ZERO PERSONALITY, BUT IS FANTASTIC IN THE BEDROOM?
It’s not an uncommon question — as revealed by the ever popular Yahoo Answers forum, “Panther K” even asked the question to the generic public to help him decide which of two girls he should marry: Girl A has sex appeal, but is unsure about her personality for the long haul, and Girl B is “below average” but they have lots in common. His initial thought seems to be to go for the sexy girl (and there is no posted resolution to Panther’s dilemma, so there is room for interpretation here).
The other night, this topic came up at a party that Web Watch was attending, and the question of SEX vs PERSONALITY was posed.
It was all agreed that the proper, correct answer to the question is this:
“If the girl has absolutely zero personality, then there’s no way a man would stick around long enough to find out if she was good in bed.”
In other words, men would give up a little sexual awesomeness in order to have a girl who was more mentally/conversationally interesting.
How would you have answered this?
