Everybody needs a “pee buddy”. Who’s yours?

Do you have a “pee buddy”?

We’re not talking about a person that you feel comfortable enough with to not mind heading off to the bathroom at the same time with (ladies, we’re talking to you on this one).

No, we’re talking a really true friend.

Your Step-By-Step Guide to Overcoming Paruresis

Web Watch was at a party recently when the topic of deep sea diving came up – but more importantly was the discussion surrounding how many of Web Watch’s friends had been stung by jellyfish along the way.

And as is the way of these conversations, we all started quoting that infamous Friends episode where Joey peed on Monica after she had been stung by a jellyfish while at the beach.

So we’ll ask again: WHO IS YOUR PEE BUDDY?

Who is that person who you will give advance approval to pee on you if necessary?

You don’t want to be lying there on the beach, looking around at all these strangers standing around you, wondering which one of them you will choose to alleviate the jellyfish pain you’re in.  You want to know ahead of time who you can count on to be there in your time of urine desperation.

That’s right. YOU are the one selected to be that Pee Buddy.  The Pee Master.  The Urine King.

You’re the one who will be called into action at a moment’s notice, knowing that you’ve already been given permission to whip it out and let it fly.  All in the name of science and healing, of course.

Are there caveats to being a Pee Buddy?  Of course there are.

You can only pee on your friend if — and only if — they’ve been stung by a jellyfish.

That’s right.  At no other time are you ever allowed to pee on your friend.

Of course, the outstanding question is whether you could actually bring yourself to do the deed if you were lucky enough to be called into action.  Could you go through with it?  Would you go through with it?

Still, in the spirit of full disclosure, Web Watch needs to share that SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN has reported that urinating on a jellyfish sting is actually not effective at all.  You’re better off rinsing the area with saltwater rather than peeing on your friend.  The article says that even fresh water is just as bad as urine when it comes to treating jellyfish stings.

It’s up to you whether you want to share this information with your friend when you make your Pee Buddy bond.  Sometimes the fun is just knowing that you CAN pee on your friend with their full knowledge and permission… even if the opportunity never, ever comes up.
