Baylor University just finished conducting a survey of over 3,500 adults that related to Clergy Sexual Misconduct.
The question they asked was whether the RESPONDENT HAD EVER BEEN THE SUBJECT OF A SEXUAL ADVANCE BY A RELIGIOUS LEADER.
The survey results confirmed that not only is there misconduct going on, but that it is more rampant than what was originally thought.
According to the results, 3.1% of adult women who attend services at least once a month have been involved with a member of the clergy. This equates to 7 out of every 240 female worshippers.
92% of the sexual advances were made secretly, as opposed to being part of a open relationship. 67% of the clergy were married at the time.
The Baylor study is more interesting if you saw last season’s “Vatican” episode of PENN & TELLER’s BULLSHIT; the show made the claim that “anywhere from 20-50% of all priests are gay“.
Makes you wonder if Baylor needs to redo the survey with a different question or two in mind, doesn’t it?
