2010 Christmas Trends – name your favorite holiday activities, music, and movies

A recent survey of over 2000 adults asked what the respondents’ FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT THE  HOLIDAYS WERE.  Here is what they found:

When asked about their FAVORITE HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES, the survey results included these top five responses.  Note the huge gap between #1 and #2 on the list.

  • Spending time with family and friends – 58%
  • Holiday dinners and parties – 9%
  • Finding and giving presents – 6%
  • Putting up holiday decorations – 5%
  • Watching television specials and hearing holiday songs on the radio – 5%

There was a big gap in the top five items listed under LEAST FAVORITE HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES as well:

  • Spending too much money – 27%
  • Holiday shopping crowds – 24%
  • Putting up and taking down holiday decorations – 8%
  • Finding and giving presents – 5%
  • Eating and drinking too much – 5%

The TOP 10 HOLIDAY SONGS that people look forward to hearing most each year are:

  1. Silent Night
  2. White Christmas
  3. O Holy Night
  4. Jingle Bells
  5. Little Drummer Boy
  6. Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer
  7. The Christmas Song
  8. I’ll Be Home for Christmas
  9. Joy to the World
  10. Jingle Bell Rock

In contrast, here are the LEAST LIKED 10 HOLIDAY SONGS, in terms of what song respondents would not want to hear ever again:

  1. Jingle Bells
  2. Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer
  3. Rudolph, the Red Nosed Reindeer
  4. White Christmas
  5. I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
  6. The 12 Days of Christmas
  7. Jingle Bell Rock
  8. We Wish You A Merry Christmas
  9. The Chipmunk Song (“Christmas Don’t Be Late”)
  10. Silent Night
