Contrary to popular belief, Hawaii is NOT the most expensive place to live in the US

Did you know that one of the busiest Costco’s in the country is just outside the airport in Hawaii?

People fly in, taxi over to the Costco, and purchase their entire vacation supply immediately upon landing.  It’s cheaper to do it this way than it is to ship everything over yourself or to buy provisions at the grocery store.

Hawaii gets a bum wrap about this – their prices may be higher than on the continental 48 states, but that doesn’t mean that Hawaii is the most expensive place in the country to live, does it?

What do you call carbonated beverages: “Coke”, “Pop”, “Soda”?

When you’re traveling around the country and you pull into the local diner, how do you answer when the waitress asks you if you’d like a Coke?

Urban sprawl is bad for our health.

Whether it’s because we’re stuck in traffic, trying to get from one side of town to another, or if its a strain on public resources like power and water, cities that are too large can be a big negative in how we live our everyday lives.

Web Watch knows people who live in one part of town who seldom venture beyond a 10 mile radius, being perfectly happy living and working close to where they live. Others, we know, are happy to drive an hour or more to see a movie or eat a casual meal at a restaurant they’ve heard about.

What cities have the cheapest room service?

Who doesn’t love a little bit of room service?

Chances are, if you’ve stayed at a fancy hotel, you’ve called down for a pizza at night or a made-to-order breakfast for the morning.  Not everyone has the time to head downstairs for the $18 buffett when all you’re looking for is two eggs and some toast.  Why not have it freshly made and at your room so you can eat on your schedule instead of theirs?

Women will make the most money in these six US states

It’s been often said that women earn anywhere from 60%-80% of what a man’s salary is in the exact same position.

And while that particular line item has been debunked as being a gender rule and more along the lines of what happens when you look at overall averages and neglect to take into account that women temporarily leave the workforce to raise a family for a portion of the time that men continue to earn money — there is still some truth that some women do earn less than some men in particular careers.
