Video Fun: Baby Got Back

Sir Mix-a-Lot’s BABY GOT BACK has inspired a few other people to make their own versions of the song, whether it be a remake of the song itself or a different take on the music video.

Take a look at what I’ve found:

Music: U2’s NO LINE ON THE HORIZON

Hopefully you’ve heard U2 on the Grammy Awards playing their new single, Get On Your Boots.

Or maybe you’re watching U2 play on David Letterman this week.  In any event, Amazon has the entire album available for download for $3.99. Get it while it’s cheap.

Literal Music Videos

This is what a song would sound like if the lyrics were a literal description of what was going on in the music video itself. You can find more of these over at LITERAL MUSIC VIDEOS.

The Future of GM at EPCOT

THE MOTOR REPORT is reporting this morning that General Motors is cutting up to US$800 million from its North American advertising budget this year.

While this will affect GM’s plans for sponsoring the upcoming Transformers sequel,  it is currently unknown whether GM will continue to provide Disney sponsorship dollars for Epcot’s TEST TRACK attraction.  It has been announced that the budget cut applies to GM’s print, TV and film advertising, and its vehicle purchase incentives.

The sponsorship cost has never been announced, but is estimated to be about US$5 million per year, according to sources. This is just a drop in the bucket when compared to cutting $800 million in a single year.

Napoleon Dynamite’s Guide to Social Networking

Seth Simonds has compiled the NAPOLEON DYNAMITE GUIDE TO SOCIAL NETWORKING, because let’s face it — anyone who is a new user to Facebook, MySpace, bulletin board discussion groups, business networking events, speed dating, or any other forced social intermingling activity really needs a hand to break through the pre-established cliques and get away from being that awkward wallflower to become a true contributer to the situation.

And who knows, maybe you’ll meet someone and get a date out of it.

The first three rules are:

  1. Give, like, creative and real compliments.
  2. Don’t let other people take up all your time or space or eat all your steak.
  3. Put your connections to work for others so they get sweet stuff, too.

Take a look at Seth’s article for the other two examples and how Napoleon Dynamite applies to the points he is making.

The whole piece should really be subtitled, “EVERYTHING I KNOW ABOUT HOW TO SUCCEED IN SOCIAL NETWORKING I LEARNED FROM NAPOLEAN DYNAMITE”.

Don’t know if Seth will take my suggestion though.  Maybe if I offer to draw him a liger, he’ll consider it.

Wikipedia Band Name / Album Generator

The latest meme to spread across the Internet is USING WIKIPEDIA TO NAME YOUR BAND’S FIRST ALBUM

It’s a three-part process as you discover the name of your band, the name of the album, and the album cover art.

  1. Click on Wikipedia’s “Display Random Page” link.  The page title that is displayed is the name of your band
  2. Go to Random Quotations and view a set of random quotes.  The last four or five words of the very last quote on the page is the name of your album.
  3. Visit Flickr’s list of uploads from the last 7 days. The third picture displayed is the picture to use on your album cover.

Here is an example:

Humberstone Road Railway Station
