It’s true: women hate beards

Women: do you like your men clean-shaven, or with some sort of facial hair?

Oh, don’t kid yourself.

We know that you’re going to say that you like the casual, rough look of a slightly unshaven Johnny Depp or Brad Pitt or George Clooney.

But really, that’s just a cop-out.  Let’s compare apples to oranges here, and keep your choices to (a) clean shaven, and (b) a full-on, minimum 6-week’s worth of growth, manly man beard.

Which of those scenarios do you prefer?

20 things that people misplace the most

How often do you lose your keys or your sunglasses?

In the Web Watch household, it’s almost a daily occurrence.  Hey, it happens to everyone, right?

One thing that we’ve learned over the years is that no matter how lost something is in your immediate environment, everything will always turn up eventually.  It may not be when you most need it, but everything does show up somewhere down the road.

Parents – are you raising an Indigo Child? Here’s how to tell…

Web Watch has a number of friends who have raised mature, well-adjusted children.

Over the years, as we’ve seen these kids grow from toddlers to college-attending members of society, we’ve often commented on our friends’ superior parenting skills when compared to other families we see out and about at the mall, restaurants, or even Disney World – where the kids are literally terrors on two feet.

There’s a difference between being your child’s Best Friend and being their parent, and today’s society appears to have shifted the blame of this bad behavior not on the bad parenting being done by the adults, but rather as a result of the kids themselves being unresponsive and not receptive to listening to their parents.

Why women like wearing push-up bras

Men – do you really wonder WHY women like wearing push-up bras, beyond the fact that they choose to do so and you get a bit of benefit from it?

Would you believe that a good bra — and in particular, a push-up bra — leads to increased confidence?

The Sexting Habits of American Adults

Have you ever sexted?

You know, sent a sexy text message to someone?

Yes, “sexting” is all the rage these days, apparently.  Everyone from schoolkids to businessmen and government employees are sending naughty pictures of themselves with abandon, to everyone and anyone they know.

Web Watch has talked about how much money porn websites make, including those sites that are the beneficiary of randomly sent sexy text photos.

Worst Bed Bug Cities in America

Bed Bugs are making the news all over the place this year, especially with the warm weather that has been seen all across the country this past winter.

So we shouldn’t be surprised that ORKIN, one of the largest pest control companies in the country, is considered an expert on how to control bed bugs.

And now that it’s Spring Break, unsuspecting college kids and high school seniors are going to be traveling all over the country, and may end up bringing home a special friend or two (or three thousand) with them if they’re not careful.

And that’s one reason why Orkin decided to release their list of the TOP 50 BED BUG CITIES in AMERICA for 2011.

How dirty is your hotel room?

A few years ago, Web Watch was visiting Las Vegas with some friends.  As is the case when traveling with a large group of people – especially in Vegas – we all found ourselves staying in different hotels.

And as is the case with different Las Vegas hotels, cleanliness standards can be a bit different from hotel to hotel, company to company.

So while Web Watch was enjoying our crisp, clean sheets, one member of our brigade found herself being transferred from one dirty hotel room to another until she ultimately asked to be checked into a different hotel across the way.

Apparently, maid service doesn’t always check to clear the room of used.. (ahem) … from underneath the bed.

The 2012 Top Earning Nightclubs in the Country

When you go out to the club, are all eyes on you?

Are you with the Party Rock Crew, where all drinks are free?

Well, to run a successful nightclub – you can’t make a habit from giving your drinks away to just anybody.  Handing them out for free to Web Watch?  Sure – that’s to be expected – but not everyone can get away with that like we can.

Still, when you’re making millions upon millions of dollars a year on $500 bottle service, it’s okay to throw out a free drink on occasion.  Grease the celebrity wheels, if you will.

10 job interview questions that you don’t want potential employers asking you

Interviewing for a new job can be a stressful experience.  You’re trying to make the best first impression, and the employer liked your resume enough to warrant giving you a chance.

Web Watch believes that anything that’s mentioned on a resume is fair game to talk about during an interview.  So if you don’t want to talk about that 8-month stint where you were an executive assistance to Jennifer Anniston if that job didn’t give you any skills that are applicable to what you’re applying for, then you might want to leave that off.

Change your life: do one thing every day that will scare the crap out of you

Greg Tung wanted to make this past year the most interesting year of his life.

Inspired by a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt (“Do one thing every day that scares you”), Greg decided that he was going to do just that for 365 days (plus one, to cover for leap year).

Now, everybody’s definition of what makes things “scary” is different.  Greg summed “scary” up as things that he would normally go out of his way to avoid doing if he had the choice to do so.

So Greg went ahead to chronicle this personal adventure on his website, SCARE YOURSELF EVERY DAY, which Web Watch will predict will get turned into another one of those great blog-to-book projects we’ve talked about previously (Cake Wrecks, we’re looking at you!).   It’s more likely to happen, since as part of the Scare Yourself project, Greg quit his job to focus on his dream of becoming a writer.

Yeah, quitting your job to follow a dream is definitely on everyone’s list of things that can scare the crap out of you.

The Most Expensive Restaurants in America

A few months back, Web Watch wrote about the TOP 100 RESTAURANTS IN THE WORLD.

Now, while you may not be able to travel all around the world to eat at one of the top 100 restaurants, you could always try treating yourself by eating at one of these MOST EXPENSIVE RESTAURANTS IN AMERICA.

One thing that these restaurants don’t do that makes them so special?  All the things that Web Watch looks for in a quality dining establishment, perfect for date night:

  • They don’t have chairs/tables bolted to the floor
  • They don’t have a drive-thru window
  • They don’t serve free meals for kids with an adult meal purchase

The World’s Best Tourists for 2011

Web Watch does love to travel, and when we do we try to be the best, most considerate traveler we can be.

It’s not always like that, however.

We often find ourselves trying to be extra-polite to cover for those miscreants we run across who just give tourists a bad name.   They’re the ones who really ruin siteseeing for everyone.

Do we really need to have a gum-filled wall in Seattle?

Really?    Well, it might be considered “art” there… but it’s certainly not considered “art” when seen in a queue line at the local amusement park, is it?

Nope, there it’s just tacky, tacky.  Literally, in some places.

Just like your underwear, sales are creeping up

Web Watch has previously covered news regarding how one can tell that the economy is picking up based on the increase in underwear sales.

But isn’t it time to take a look at exactly what type of worldwide retail trends we should be looking at when it comes to our underwear purchases?

Three traits new college graduates must have to get a job

If you’re a recent college graduate (or about to be one), here’s something that you should know:

It’s a jungle out there, and getting a job right out of college is not as much of a guarantee as it used to be.

When hiring managers are combing through stacks and stacks of resumes looking for the ideal candidate to fill an open position, it often comes down to just a few things that can separate the You’re Hired pile from the Don’t Bother pile.
