Small Town Misfits, and other wacky news

Your local newspaper may have a column devoted to covering the wackier side of the police blotter.  But in case you don’t, browse the SMALL TOWN MISFIT listings, culled from police reports from across the country.

Making fun of other people’s misadventures in crime is always amusing.

Fixing Computers in Exchange for Sex

Have you met “Ray the Computer Guy”?

He posted an ad (since removed) on popular Internet classifieds site Craigslist offering TO FIX COMPUTERS IN EXCHANGE FOR SEX.

His payscale was pretty basic:  for guys, he’d only take cash.  For women, he’d leave it up to their discretion.

Basic repairs that were done in 15 minutes, he’d take a foot massage.

Update on Nude Summer Camps

Remember the story we had last year about Naked Summer Camps for Teenagers?

It seems a lot of folks didn’t care for the concept, after all.

The AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF FOR NUDE RECREATION HAS CANCELLED THE SUMMER YOUTH CAMP.

Citing a federal court ruling prohibiting children to be “openly nude” without their direct parental, grandparental, or guardian’s supervision, the association overlooking the summer camp program has decided that it was in their best interest to close the summer camp rather than fight the court ruling.

In a press release, the AANR said that parents are more than welcome to attent the summer camp with their children, but they couldn’t require that to occur – just as basketball camps, computer camps, or other summer camp programs don’t require parents to attend those camps also.

Nude Summer Camps… you know, for kids

The New York Times is running a story entitled OLD ENOUGH TO MAKE A LANYARD, OLD ENOUGH TO DO IT NUDE, and has – surprisingly – run into a little backlash on the subject content.

Apparently, it’s not natural for 13-year-old girls to complain about having to play “strip volleyball” when they’d rather play regular volleyball.  The campers’ stance is that having to put clothes ON in order to play the strip version of the game is the hindrance, not the fact that they’re all playing naked in the first place.

The Top Five List: Daily Internet Humor

Have you ever seen something in the newspaper or heard something on the news that just didn’t seem right to you?  News reporters are supposed to check and double-check their facts before reporting things, right?

Just ask The New York Times and ABC News anchor Peter Jennings what happened to them in the winter of 1999, when they had a report on mistranslated Chinese movie titles.

Playboy’s List of Top Party Schools

Playboy started publishing a list of the TOP PARTY SCHOOLS back in 1987. That list was created from surveys of students, and was fairly straightforward. 15 years later in 2002, Playboy published an updated Top Party Schools list.

For their first list in 1987, Playboy surveyed “club leaders, dorm rush chairmen, fraternity presidents, and other campus socialites” at more than 250 college campuses across the country, and compiled this student-generated list of which schools were the BIGGEST PARTY SCHOOLS at the time.

Here are the 40 entries on PLAYBOY’S 1987 LIST OF TOP PARTY SCHOOLS:
