Want to cook like a professional chef? Set your TiVo on Dec 15 for “Gordon Ramsay: Cookalong Live”

Gordon Ramsay Kitchen NightmaresWeb Watch has enjoyed watching Gordon Ramsay yell at both potential and actual restaurant employees for years on HELL’S KITCHEN and KITCHEN NIGHTMARES, respectively.

And in the end, we wholeheartedly agree with the yelling, as he is yelling for good reason the majority of the time.  All Gordon wants is to bring out the best in people.

So while you may not agree with his methods, you can agree that when it comes to food he does know what he’s talking about.

Which is why FOX has decided to import yet another British series for Ramsay that shows a decidedly softer side of the typically angry chef in GORDON RAMSAY: COOKALONG LIVE, airing live on FOX on December 15th.

You’re kidding – How can the top gadget of this decade NOT be TiVo?

Best Gadget HackingSo PASTE Magazine has come out with their list of the TOP 20 GADGETS OF THE PAST DECADE (2000-2009), and while Web Watch certainly agrees with the sentiment that such a list entails, we seriously question the validity of any such survey that places TiVo anywhere lower than #1.

It costs HOW much per commercial on The Amazing Race? That’s a steal! (and other commercial pricing)

The Amazing RaceWeb Watch has a TiVo for one thing – to make watching television easier and more fun (unlike other folks who solely use TiVo or other DVRs to skip commercials).  We do admit that we skip commercials, but we’ll often go back to watch some of the ones that look more interesting… like movie trailers, or something new that hasn’t been seen before.

But it did get Web Watch wondering… HOW MUCH ARE THE NETWORKS CHARGING PER 30-SECOND AD IN PRIMETIME?

And now we know.  Let’s take a look at how much some of Web Watch’s current favorite shows are doing per 30-second spot:

Video Fun: Star Trek overdub parodies

Star Trek comic book collectionSome have called Star Trek a campy sci-fi classic.

That’s probably true, and William Shatner has not denied that his over-acting was a major part of the continued admiration for the classic series.

Here are a few clips showing how the Star Trek TV series has been repurposed into other works.

How to Find Celebrity Homes on Google Maps

Maps to Celebrities HomesSo you’re sitting around the house watching the REAL HOUSEWIVES marathon on Bravo, and you got to wondering:  we know that we always see these houses and townhomes in the shots, but where exactly do these women live?

Or maybe you want to see exactly where the Playboy Mansion is in relation to other celebrity homes in Hollywood?

Sure, you could do a couple of Google searches or type things into Google Maps to see what comes up, or you could do what Web Watch does and visit VIRTUAL GLOBETROTTER, because they’ve already done the hard part for you.

Newlywed GameFinally, the answer to that perennial Newlywed Game question can be proven once and for all.

A Modest Proposal for Saturday Night Live: You Don’t Suck, You’re Just Airing the Wrong SNL Tape

Mr Bill from Saturday Night LiveWeb Watch has just finished watching this past weekend’s Saturday Night Live episode starring Gerard Butler.  THIS WEEK’S EPISODE CONTINUED TO PROVE THAT THE SHOW CAN BE FUNNY if they have a host that is versatile.

As is often the case, some of the skits were hit-or-miss.  Opening monologue and the Beauty and the Beast sketch were amusing, as is what usually happens when the cast throws some comedic music into the mix.

We enjoyed Weekend Update as always, and Keenan’s “What’s Up With That” bit was worth the effort the cast put into it (we’ll see that one again, we hope).  Butler may not have been the strongest host they’ve had, but he certainly didn’t embarass himself – and he showed that he was willing to do anything for a laugh.  No complaints about him at all.   The lack of Andy Samberg and an SNL Digital Short is a different issue, but we don’t have time to get into that today.

How to Ruin the Surprise Ending to 33 Movies, 100 TV Shows, and more

Happy EndingsWeb Watch is not one to spoil the end of a good movie or TV show.

Heck, we once were able to avoid all relevant conversation until The Sixth Sense was released on DVD before knowing what happened at the end of the film.

So we know how important a great twisty/surprise movie ending can and should be.
