CareerCast has published their annual list of the BEST 200 JOBS FOR 2011, based on data from the Labor Department, the US Census, and their own research.

They ranked each job in the following categories of topics: Environment, Income, Outlook, Stress and Physical Demands.  Within each topic category, a number of different items were evaluated on a numeric range, with lower numbers leading to better overall scores.

For example, a work environment would be judged based on the level of toxicity in the air, the physical nature of the job, or how perilous the job site may be for the employee or others they work with.

Once all the numbers for every area was determined, they were added up, and the lowest overall score wins.

Here are the top scoring jobs, qualifying for the title BEST JOBS FOR 2011:

Bruce Hornsby and the Range: The Way It Is

If you’re one of the millions of people who are still out of work and trying to get a job, there is hope — the economy is picking up in some sectors and locations, and everywhere Web Watch looks there are “help wanted” signs posted.  Granted, they may not be posted for jobs that everyone is interested in, but a job is a job to some… and if you don’t take it, someone who is already working two jobs to make ends meet will probably swoop in and take on a third just because they can.

Which brings us to today’s post, where we talk about a jobs-related survey done by Rutgers University entitled The Shattered American Dream: Unemployed Workers Lose Ground, Hope, and Faith in their Futures.

OK GO’s Damian Kulash Jr has written a phenomenal piece in the WALL STREET JOURNAL that talks about the NEW ROCK STAR PARADIGM.

In th earticle, he explains that the old method of signing a contract with a record label is no longer the only way for a band or an artist to make a living at making music.

He talks about how OK GO is working directly with sponsors to help fund various projects – such as using State Farm’s money to help create and film the giant Rube Goldberg contraption for their video… all for a brief “thanks” message at the end of the video.

The Who Sell Out?  Not so much anymore.  Everyone seems to be doing it, as that’s where the money is.  Well, that — and iTunes.

Strunk and White - Elements of Style
Strunk and White – Elements of Style

While we try to be entertaining in what Web Watch writes, we know that we may not be the best writer in general.

Hey, it happens.  But at least we’re out there trying – and trying to use sound sentence structure and proper grammar along the way.  With the occasional sentence fragment thrown in.  For kicks.

So when we ran across this list of the TOP 25 GRAMMAR AND LANGUAGE MISTAKES, we knew that we might be in trouble for doing one of these in the past.  We’ve posted some of our favorites from the list below the cut:
