Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog

If you’re a fan of Neal Patrick Harris (and frankly, who isn’t these days?), then you know that he starred in a web feature entitled DR HORRIBLE’S SING-ALONG BLOG by Josh Whedon.

If you’re not a fan of NPH, then re-read the above paragraph to know what Web Watch is talking about. Here – take a peak at the trailer:

I Love Axtell
I Love Axtell

AXTELL is a unique entertainment company.

They make a variety of ventriloquist products, from ventriloquist dummies or puppets to animatronic devices that a performer can interact with.  America’s Got Talent winner TERRY FATOR is promoted on Axtell’s site for using at least one of Axtell’s creations.

In other words, they’re pretty good.

But we’re not hear to talk about the cool stuff that AXTELL makes (and trust Web Watch – that ventriloquist drawing board setup they have is pretty nifty; just watch that video)

Video Fun: “Premakes” – old-school movie trailers for modern films

Disney/Pixar's UP
Disney/Pixar’s UP

By now, Web Watch hopes that you’ve seen Disney/Pixar’s UP.

Hopefully, you’ve shown it to your parents.  If you haven’t, and have had difficulty explaining to your parents why they should want to watch an animated film, perhaps you should show them this PREMAKE, a movie trailer using old video clips done in a style as if the new film had been made decades ago.

Perhaps it’s a bit hard to explain.  It’s what the trailers would look like if these films had been made in the 1950’s. Does that make sense?

Why don’t you watch this clip and you’ll see what we mean:

How often do you wash your jeans? “Never” seems to be acceptable

Dirty Jeans
Dirty Jeans

How often do you wash your jeans?

Well, if you’re college student Josh Le, the answer is that you TRY TO WEAR YOUR JEANS AS LONG AS POSSIBLE WITHOUT WASHING THEM.  In his case, he wore his $165 pair of “Nudie Jeans” 330 different times over a 15 month period without washing them…. just to see if you could and what would happen.

A funky science project, if you will.

That’s over 60 weeks.

Apparently, Michael J. Fox is a nice guy. And an alien.

Back to the Future

According to Tom Wilson, who played BIFF in the Back to the Future films, Michael J. Fox is a nice guy.

But why take Web Watch’s word for it? Here he is to tell you himself:

Proof that Sesame Street’s Grover uses Old Spice

Stuffed Grover with Monster at the End of this Book book
Stuffed Grover with “Monster at the End of this Book” book

Some things do not need any further explanation, beyond the fact that Sesame Street is awesome.

After watching this, however, it does appear that Grover is looking a little matted and mangy. He might want to have that checked out.

Video Fun: Unexpected Music Mashups

Mashed Up: Music, Technology, and the Rise of Configurable Culture
Mashed Up: Music, Technology, and the Rise of Configurable Culture

Web Watch has covered music mashups before, but here’s a slightly different take for your amusement:  what happens when you SING THE LYRICS OF ONE SONG TO THE MELODY OF ANOTHER?  That what ROB BRYDON and others do here on I’M SORRY I HAVEN’T A CLUE.

It’s almost the same as HOW TO WRITE THE PERFECT POP SONG, where you can use the same four chords to cover any number of different songs.  Perhaps all you really need to do is take a listen:
