Which Grammy nominee is on your Free Pass list?

Everybody has a “free pass” list.

That’s the list of celebrities that if, given the opportunity to do so, your significant other would allow you to have a personal encounter with (whether the ground rules state that it’s limited to just a kiss or something more naked and involved is up to the individuals making the pact).

The theory is that nobody would ever really have a shot at hooking up with a celebrity, so coming up with your Top Five fantasy hookups is really more for fun than anything else.

We all know the typical Hot Celebrities that everybody seems to put down on their lists:  George Clooney, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt.  (Yawn – can you get more boring and predictable?)

Can you really see the Great Wall of China from space?

Web Watch has often been told that you can see the Great Wall of China from outer space.  That it was the only man-made object that was visible by astronauts.

Apparently, that’s not true.  Never has been.

There are some things that you CAN see from space… but the Great Wall is not one of them.

When you die, will you have any regrets?

When you die, are you going to have any regrets?

Will there be things that you wish you had done, things you wish you had said – anything that in your last days on Earth you would look back on and ask yourself, “what if…”?

This is more than just fulfilling a Bucket List.  This is about closure.

Bronnie Ware is an Australian nurse, specializing in caring for dying patients, those in the last few weeks of their lives.  Over the years, she has spent much time talking with and comforting her patients, listening to those last few words that they had to share.

When can we use the phrase “Super Bowl”? And other Super Legalities you should be aware of

One question that Web Watch hears a lot from our friends is “Why do some businesses use the term THE BIG GAME or PIGSKIN PARTY, while others use the term SUPER BOWL in their promotional material?” We’ve noticed this ourselves, and are often amused at the lengths some companies go to in associating themselves as being a part of the Professional Football Championship Game without actually mentioning any of the NFL’s trademarks.

Web Watch is not a lawyer, nor are we involved/affiliated with the Super Bowl, the NFL, and its various properties – but we can certainly share some of the things that we’ve learned over the years. Take the following as helpful suggestions, but if you are planning on using any of the NFL’s trademarks yourself – you may want to check with your own legal department and/or followup with the NFL themselves for your own DOs and DONTs list.

What does it take to throw the ultimate Super Bowl Party? Lots of money.

The Billion Dollar Game: Behind the Scenes of the Greatest Day In American Sport - Super Bowl Sunday
The Billion Dollar Game:
Behind the Scenes of the Greatest Day In American Sport – Super Bowl Sunday

Web Watch loves watching the Super Bowl.  Yeah, we don’t often care what teams are playing – although we always cheer for the NFC – but we love the glory, the spectacle, the over-excess of the event itself.

And yes, we even get to watch a decent commercial or two.

The Big Game, Pigskin Party, Gridiron Madness — whatever you end up calling the Super Bowl, there is typically one thing on everybody’s mind when Super Bowl weekend comes barrelling through:  HOW DO YOU THROW THE ULTIMATE SUPER BOWL PARTY?

Amazon.com has the Best Customer Service. (Zappos ranks high, too)

Amazon.com Gift Card
Amazon.com Gift Card

When it comes to Customer Service, what retail companies come to mind?

We’ve heard countless stories about companies like Costco taking back anything that they sell, no matter how long ago you purchased it… but while Costco is an awesome place to shop, the long lines and lack of salespeople on the shopping floor can turn some potential shoppers off, as getting out of there with a purchase can be a bit more difficult than it needs to be.

Web Watch enjoys the staff at the local Home Depot and Lowe’s, but there are times when both stores struggle to answer our seemingly simple questions.

We do’t ask for much – we just want each shopping experience to be superior to the last outing.

What to do in Vegas? In 2011, “not gamble” was on the list

Weird Las Vegas and Nevada: Your Alternative Travel Guide to Sin City and the Silver State
Weird Las Vegas and Nevada:
Your Alternative Travel Guide to Sin City and the Silver State

Web Watch loves visiting Las Vegas.

Then again, we also agree with our friends who say that “a little Las Vegas goes a long way”.  In other words, these people don’t necessarily enjoy the entire gambling, casino, nightlife, gambling aspect of Sin City.

Web Watch knows people that took a vacation out to Nevada and other points west, and their Las Vegas experience consisted solely of driving down the Las Vegas Strip.  They didn’t stop, they didn’t browse.  They had lunch as a nearby McDonald’s (not even at the In-n-Out!) before continuing on their merry way.

We don’t blame them.  There are aspects of Las Vegas that we don’t appreciate either.  But to each their own.

But then the Nevada Gaming Control Board decided to come out with their compilation of revenue numbers and financial analysis of the 2011 gambline business, and the numbers look a bit unusual to us here at Web Watch.

Seven rights you don’t have when you take a cruise

What You Need to Know About Your First Cruise - Cruise Like a Pro Your First Time
What You Need to Know About Your First Cruise – Cruise Like a Pro Your First Time

Have you ever taken a cruise before?

Well, they’re a lot of fun.  And not filled with old people playing shuffleboard.  Of course, it helps if you’re able to take a cruise with a large group of people, so you always have someone fun to hang out with besides your Significant Other.

But let’s keep in mind that a cruise ship is its own entity – especially when it gets out into International Waters, where almost anything can happen when you’re outside of a specific country’s jurisdiction.

So in order to keep order, cruise lines have tiny fine print on the back of their tickets (maybe not literally, but at least figuratively) that you have to sign away on when you agree to board the boat.
