Julie & Julia is not a perfect movie, but if you are able to point out flaws in a Food Network recipe (like those seen in Zarela’s Creamy Rice Casserole or Chef Keith’s Jerk Chicken), then this film is perfect for you. It knows its target audience — those who like chick flicks, as well as foodies of all kinds — and caters… no pun intended… directly to them. It’s not a mistake that the filmmakers have promoted the film almost continually on the Food Network.
OpenTable is a website that allows hungry people to make restaurant reservations online. That feature by itself it worthwhile, but their restaurant reviews are also useful in making OpenTable a great site to use when trying to find a new restaurant to try – or better, find a restaurant in a city you’ve never been to.
OpenTable recently held their annual Diner’s Choice awards, and received over 2.5 million restaurant reviews covering over 9,000 different restaurants around the country. Based on those reviews, here is OpenTable’s list of the TOP 50 MOST CHILD-FRIENDLY RESTAURANTS for 2009:
Restaurants and Institutions magazine has released their 2009 list of the TOP 400 RESTAURANT CHAINS, in terms of revenue.
Coming in at top is no surprise: McDonalds, with over US$70 billion in sales.
Rounding out the rest of the top ten are:
The magazine also released their annual list of the TOP EARNING INDEPENDENT RESTAURANTS FOR 2009 as well.
Just as Web Watch reported a few years ago the first time we looked at these statistics, Las Vegas-based TAO is still at the top of the list, with $68m in 2008 earnings and an average dinner check of $72. Not bad, when you have 785,000 people coming through your door.
The rest of the top 10 independent restaurants were:
Falling just out of the top 10, at spot number 11, is our first Walt Disney World property, Fulton’s Crab House. With an average check of $45, Fulton’s made $20m in 2008. Other Disney properties that made the list include Wolfgang Puck Grand Cafe at #25 ($15.7m), and the Contemporary Resort’s California Grill at #97 ($11.1m).
Why do McGriddles, that tasty treat from McDonald’s that consists of egg, cheese, and bacon lovingly wrapped around two syrup-soaked pancakes, taste so good – and as a result, makes us happy?
It may surprise you that a STUDY ON THE NEUROSCIENCE OF MCGRIDDLES has shown that our happiness about McGriddles is not related at all with the taste of the McGriddle. McDonald’s could serve us cardboard-wrapped cardboard, and it would be happily accepted just as well (assuming it was edible, of course).

Web Watch enjoys watching Food Network, and one of the limited-run series that Food Network has been airing for the past few weeks is entitled THE BEST THING I EVER ATE.
Each episode has various Food Network stars (Guy Fieri, Duff Goldman, Bobby Flay, Giada De Laurentiis, etc) raving about the Best Things They’ve Ever Eaten in different categories. If you’re a foodie, these are the places around the country that you should stick your head into to see what’s up.
One episode, entitled “Obsessions”, covered foods from Miami to San Francisco. Finally, an episode that featured three(!) restaurants that Web Watch has already visited. So far, so good.

That means some people get very creative with their abbreviations and phrasing in order to squeeze every last bit of information into those 140-characters.
But even with that restriction, it is possible to write TWECIPES aka COOKING RECIPES in those 140 characters.
