2013 is a wrap, but before we head boldly into 2014, let’s take a quick look at what all of you, our many Web Watch readers, have stopped by to take a look at over the past year:
A good bowl of cereal and Saturday morning cartoons were a rite of passage for many growing up in the 70’s and 80’s. Today’s kids don’t know what quality kids-oriented TV programming was, since everything now has to be sanitized to ensure that nothing is directly marketed towards kids.
Remember McDonaldland and all the fun characters that Ronald McDonald used to hang out with? Don’t see them much on TV anymore, do you? It’s a surprise that they still show up at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, considering the promotional aspect of having a clown as your spokesman.
Some people say that being a clown must be easy work.
Show up at a party, tell a few jokes, make some kids laugh, then get back into your clown car and drive away.
But it’s really not that simple, is it? Things like being a clown never are. .
Thanks to all of you who took the time to visit WEB WATCH in 2012.
For those of you who weren’t able to read Web Watch every day, here’s a quick look at what everyone took a look at while they were here.
How can you look at a hot girl wearing a clown nose and not smile a little bit on the inside, knowing that if she’s confident enough in herself to be a little silly and goofy, maybe she’ll find you a little interesting too.
Yes, many people are afraid of clowns. They call it “COULROPHOBIA”
Even mentioning the word “clown” can bring some people to tears, as if they’re being tortured by a clown.
An aside — if you have the chance to see Bruce Nauman’s art piece CLOWN TORTURE, do it. After a while, you’ll be asking yourself, “are the clowns being tortured, or are we being tortured by these clowns?” – just like these three clowns said when they were asked to view the art piece themselves.
Or, like TOO MUCH JOY said in their hit, CLOWNS: “I hate clowns… and I hate mimes”.
Yeah, clowns can be a little polarizing.
Considering the topic (CLOWNS!), Web Watch will try to keep this post as non-threatening as possible. We know that some people suffer from COULROPHOBIA – a FEAR OF CLOWNS, and we want to be sure not to frighten anyone away unnecessarily.
So we’re going to keep it simple, and recommend that you listen to the soothing sounds of TOO MUCH JOY’s CLOWNS while you read this list of the TOP 25 MOST COMMON CLOWN NAMES, based on the International Clown Registry of over 950 unique clown names entered:
