Spoiler Alert! Spoilers are GOOD for you! (Psst: Vader is Luke’s Father)

Spoiler Alert: Bruce Willis Is Dead and 399 More Endings from Movies, TV, Books, and Life
Spoiler Alert: Bruce Willis Is Dead and
399 More Endings from Movies, TV, Books, and Life

Rosebud is a sled.

It was Earth all along.

Soylent Green is people.

Snape kills Dumbledore.

No longer is it safe to save a favorite movie, book, or TV show for later enjoyment if you want to avoid having the ending spoiled.  Web Watch has mentioned before that we were successfully able to avoid hearing about the ending of THE SIXTH SENSE until we finally saw the film ourselves on DVD.  Yes, we knew there was some general plot twist, but we always were able to avoid any in-depth conversation about it until many months after the film had been released.

And that was before Twitter and the #spoiler or #spoileralert hashtags came into play.  We’ve gotten into online battles with friends who are active on various social media sites who have become angry about conversations on shows that they haven’t seen yet, but were pissed that they just happened to come across someone else’s comment.

Dude, if you don’t want to know what happened, then stay the hell off of Twitter.  How the hell are WE supposed to know what you have or haven’t seen yet?

Video Fun: Sing If You Can

Karaoke Revolution
Karaoke Revolution

Karaoke can be a fun.

Karaoke can be even more fun when it’s made into a game.

KARAOKE REVOLUTION was just the start, but there’s no danger in singing with friends in your living room.

Then came DON’T FORGET THE LYRICS and THE SINGING BEE (both regular and country versions), and KARAOKE BATTLE USA.  Sure, those games were fun… but again, where was the danger?  The risk?

The Top Ten TV Theme Songs, 1980 through 2011

Favorite TV Theme Songs
Favorite TV Theme Songs

Kids growing up today have absolutely no idea what a true TV theme song is.

Now, they turn on any of the CSI shows and get a song from The Who.  They turn on Law & Order and get a “bum-bummmmm”.  They turn on Survivor and, depending on the intricacies of the episode plotline may either get the long-form, short-form, or some variation in-between of the show’s intro.

Web Watch was having lunch the other day with a group of people that included a woman who had recently moved to the United States after having grown up in a number of foreign countries.

We all watch a little bit of trashy Reality TV.  In part because we marvel at the extravagant homes and lifestyles these people live.

Who wouldn’t want to be them – sans camera crews – for just a day or two?

Who would want to live in one of those absolutely gorgeous homes?  Well, it turns out that you can, as many of them are available for sale or rent to anyone willing to pony up some cash.

The Best SNL Skits EVER (so far…)

The Best of Saturday Night Live
The Best of Saturday Night Live

Last season’s season finale proved that Justin Timberlake is the ultimate Saturday Night Live host.

Practically every skit he’s ever in has been a slamdunk.  He can sing, he can act, he has absolutely no qualms about doing any thing for a laugh — all qualities for the most successful SNL hosts.

He’s won Emmy awards for his song-writing skills on the show too.

Video Fun: Britain’s Got Talent’s BRETT DOMINO TRIO

Keytar
Buy a KEYTAR costume

If you’re one of the millions of people watching AMERICA’S GOT TALENT (and let’s face it, you don’t get to be the number one TV program by not having millions of people watching), then you’ll know that AGT is a little lame compared to it’s older sibling BRITAIN’S GOT TALENT.

BGT has given us Susan Boyle, among other talented artists.  Overall, BGT is just more… fun… than what we get here in the States.

So here’s a little video fun from a former BGT contestant BRETT DOMINO.  Sometimes he performs as a duo, sometimes as a trio.  The important thing is that he owns a keytar and isn’t afraid to use it.

Let’s take a look:

Possible takeover target TiVo has awesome customer service (not to mention easy TiVo upgrades)

TiVo Premiere XL
Buy the TiVo PREMIERE XL

TiVo has been taking it on the chin lately.

The recent blog post in the New York Times entitled TiVO, Nice Service if You Can Get It, is the typical drivel written by somebody who hasn’t taken the time to properly research and use the product they’re talking about.

As an example – the writer, Joshua Brustein, says that TiVo has an expensive fee of $19.99/month.  He doesn’t mention that you could purchase a lifetime subscription for $499.  If you’re planning on keeping your TiVo for longer than 24 months, the lifetime subscription is the way to go.  (Web Watch won’t mention the number of deals that are on the TiVo website that may lower the overall cost even further.)

The article goes on, with the writer’s cable company trying to pimp their own DVR over a TiVo — hey, that happens. Same thing with the account of what he went through to get a cable card, involving multiple trips, phone calls, and a service tech who never showed up.    Obviously not an issue with TiVo, but with the cable company the writer is using.  For our TiVo service, Web Watch drove over to our local Cable Shoppe and picked up the cable cards directly.  Installed them into our new TiVo ourselves, and were up and running in just about an hour or so.

Obviously each user’s experience is going to be different, but none of what the writer included in his article is specific to problems with TiVo.

How Extreme Couponing Works, and how to save money at the grocery store with it

Pick Another Checkout Lane, Honey: Save Big Money & Make the Grocery Aisle your Catwalk!
Pick Another Checkout Lane, Honey: Save Big Money & Make the Grocery Aisle your Catwalk!

If you’re like Web Watch, you watch a lot of television.  And one of the more recent interesting series we’ve caught is TLC’s EXTREME COUPONING.

You know the show – it features shopping trips by couponing fanatics who are able to save 90% or more on their supermarket bill by careful planning and using coupons.

TLC’s cameras follow these proud hoarders around the store as they fill their shopping carts with hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise that they’ll pay just cents on the dollar for – and then show us their “mini-marts” of storage at home, where they have enough cereal, bathroom supplies, and diapers to last for months or years without returning to the store ever again.

While Web Watch admires some of these coupon folks for using their shopping knowledge to supply charities or care packages for overseas troops, it’s those featured on the show that end up buying products that they’ll never use that really concerns us.  One show featured a woman who had almost a year’s worth of diapers in her storage area – she’s not married, pregnant, or has any children of her own. She did this so she’ll be ready when that time comes.

Just what every baby needs to wear – disposable diapers that are five years older than they are.
