Some people think that their jobs are kind of tough.

You’ve got your standard fireman, policeman, oil rigger, human cannonball, Alaskan fisherman.  Yup, those are some very tough jobs, all with high incidents of injury and death.  For every 100,000 full-time workers, fatal injuries for firefighters is about 4.4, when police rate at 13.1.

But there are some JOBS THAT AREN’T THAT TOUGH, BUT STILL HAVE HIGH INJURY RATES.  Here’s a list of those jobs that may sound easy and lucrative, but in reality may end up putting you in the hospital or worse  Take being a farmer, for instance – their rate of injury is 38.5.  And some would say that working on a ranch is the easy way out.

Because others think that Web Watch knows everything, they often turn to us looking for answers to questions that we really wouldn’t think that we would have any basis of expertise in.

Case in point – we were visiting with old friends when their teenage daughter stopped by the kitchen to say hi on her way out the door for a date.  As she chatted with everyone, the question came up about where teens go on for a date in today’s environment.  We don’t know why everyone thought that we would have an answer to this, and our friend’s daughter wasn’t offering any suggestions herself.

The Best 200 Jobs for 2011: from Software Engineer to Roustabout

CareerCast has published their annual list of the BEST 200 JOBS FOR 2011, based on data from the Labor Department, the US Census, and their own research.

They ranked each job in the following categories of topics: Environment, Income, Outlook, Stress and Physical Demands.  Within each topic category, a number of different items were evaluated on a numeric range, with lower numbers leading to better overall scores.

For example, a work environment would be judged based on the level of toxicity in the air, the physical nature of the job, or how perilous the job site may be for the employee or others they work with.

Once all the numbers for every area was determined, they were added up, and the lowest overall score wins.
