How To Figure Out How Much Your Sandwich Costs

Noon rolls around and you have to ask yourself – what do I want to have for lunch?

Do I buy that $4.59 sub sandwich at the grocery store?

Do I get the $2.99 Extra Value Meal at the local fast-food restaurant?

What about bringing my lunch to work?  Everyone says that it’s cheaper to bring a sandwich than it is to buy one while you’re out… but the expense and planning of having to get a loaf of bread, some cold cuts and cheeses, a condiment or two… that’s a pretty expensive outing too, isn’t it?

How To Get Rid of Unwanted Books: Sell them Online!

bookshopIf you are like Web Watch, you probably have shelf upon shelf of books all around the house.

Books stacked in corners, piled away in boxes, placed on nightstands.

Books are good things to have around… but sometimes you end up with tons of books that you just don’t need anymore.  Maybe you’ve outgrown them, maybe you just don’t need to keep that series of Tom Clancy novels “just in case” you decide to read them again.

Sure you could sell them for $0.25 each at a neighborhood garage sale (if you’re lucky enough to get that much for them), or you could donate the books to a local library or assisted-living facility.

But Web Watch has a better idea:  try selling your books online.

Happy EndingsWeb Watch is not one to spoil the end of a good movie or TV show.

Heck, we once were able to avoid all relevant conversation until The Sixth Sense was released on DVD before knowing what happened at the end of the film.

So we know how important a great twisty/surprise movie ending can and should be.

What Missing Tupperware and Missing Pants Have in Common

The BorrowersYou know the drill:  somebody borrows your favorite cookbook, DVD, hammer, or pair of pants and keeps them for a while.

Maybe you’ve forgotten who you loaned things to.

Maybe they’ve forgotten who gave them things they have on the garage shelves.

Web Watch has books and DVDs that we know belong to other people, but we can’t keep track of who we need to give it back to.

We also know who we loaned our Tupperware out to a few years ago… and they STILL haven’t returned it.

This makes us angry.  DVDs, books, and pants are easily replaced.  Good Tupperware, not so much.

How To Find Your Favorite NFL Team on TV

Carolina Panthers DVDWhen you are a fan of a particular NFL team and don’t live in that city’s local viewing area, you really only have these choices for being able to watch your favorite team play on TV:

  • Hope that your team is playing in one of the weekly nationally-televised games (Sunday night football, Monday Night Football, one of those Thanksgiving games, or that random Thursday or Saturday night game that gets national coverage)
  • Hope that your local FOX or CBS affiliate is carrying the national 4p game that week in a double-header and that your team is in it
  • Get DirecTV’s Sunday Ticket, so you can pay more money than you should just to watch that one game every week
  • Go to the local smoke-filled sports bar and watch the game on one of the bar’s big screens… and if you’re lucky you’ll get the game audio instead of having to watch it with closed captions
  • Watch the game later on a replay aired on the NFL Network
  • Follow along online via nfl.com’s game stats/scoreboard page

Or you have the most common option: rely on your local CBS or FOX affiliate to decide which games they’re going to air in their markets.  The worst part is that they don’t have to make that decision until late in the week preceding the game date.

Want to Stimulate the Economy? Buy Underpants

A new study has come out that equates MEN’S UNDERWEAR PURCHASE WITH ECONOMIC STIMULATION.

Because nothing says “stimulation” than seeing that the men’s underwear market is a US$5 billion a year industry, give or take a little.

And these business analysts say that the economic ups-and-downs we’ve been experiencing lately are all tied to how often men purchase their tighty-whiteys, boxers, boxer briefs, thongs(!), and banana hammocks.  (Web Watch includes those latter items for our European and more adventurous readers.)
