How To Get Rid of Unwanted Books: Sell them Online!

bookshopIf you are like Web Watch, you probably have shelf upon shelf of books all around the house.

Books stacked in corners, piled away in boxes, placed on nightstands.

Books are good things to have around… but sometimes you end up with tons of books that you just don’t need anymore.  Maybe you’ve outgrown them, maybe you just don’t need to keep that series of Tom Clancy novels “just in case” you decide to read them again.

Sure you could sell them for $0.25 each at a neighborhood garage sale (if you’re lucky enough to get that much for them), or you could donate the books to a local library or assisted-living facility.

But Web Watch has a better idea:  try selling your books online.

Halloween Poll: What is this year’s “IT” costume going to be?

A Christmas StoryIt’s that time again.

Time for creative-minded folks to start thinking about what they want to slap together for Halloween.

And this year, with Halloween falling on a Saturday, you just know that the costumes have to be more amazing than ever.

Oh sure, there will be the standard “couples” costumes that cutesy dating couples have to do:  Jon & Kate should be a favorite (put on an Ed Hardy shirt and walk around brooding, and you’ll win first place).  Paula Abdul, Michael Jackson, and the Octomom will make their appearances as well.

But here are the important things to remember when putting together your Halloween costume:

Lawsuit over the World’s Largest PEZ Dispenser

Adult PEZ CostumeThe WORLD’S LARGEST PEZ DISPENSER is getting sued.

Well, not the dispenser itself, but the Burlingham, California people who built the World’s Largest PEZ dispenser and included it as a display in their INTERNATIONAL PEZ MUSEUM.

The company behind PEZ didn’t like the perceived copyright infringement that’s taking place, especially after this unauthorized reproduction received a GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for the Largest Candy Dispenser.   The reason behind the lawsuit is that it’s not an official PEZ product, so therefore should not be eligible for being recognized as a valid PEZ dispenser in the first place.

Why Does The Express Lane Sometimes Suck?

Have you ever gone to the checkout lane at the store and wondered whether it was worthwhile to get in line behind the one lady with the full cart and the screaming kids, or join the longer “10 items or less” express line?

And without fail, you will always choose the wrong line.

It ends up that the grocery stores have checkout times down to a science, and it took a high school math teacher to figure out which lane is going to be the best choice.

Want to Stimulate the Economy? Buy Underpants

A new study has come out that equates MEN’S UNDERWEAR PURCHASE WITH ECONOMIC STIMULATION.

Because nothing says “stimulation” than seeing that the men’s underwear market is a US$5 billion a year industry, give or take a little.

And these business analysts say that the economic ups-and-downs we’ve been experiencing lately are all tied to how often men purchase their tighty-whiteys, boxers, boxer briefs, thongs(!), and banana hammocks.  (Web Watch includes those latter items for our European and more adventurous readers.)

Photo Blog: People of Wal-Mart

Why do people hate Wal-Mart?

It can’t be because of their everyday low prices.

It can’t be because of their wide selection of quality merchandise.

It can’t be because of their easily accessible locations, their policy allowing RVs to park overnight, or many being open 24 hours for everyone’s shopping convenience.

If it’s not the company, the stores, or the employees, it has to be something else.  Something more…. esoteric.
