Bagels are more dangerous than wedding cakes. Coincidence?

Bagel Guillotine SlicerWeb Watch loves a good bagel.

We know that the best bagel places are always right next door to the city’s best chinese restaurants.  We don’t know why this is (shrimp & lobster sauce is kosher, right?), but we’ve seen the two together more often than not.

So of course we read THE HISTORY OF THE BAGEL GUILLOTINE SLICER in the Wall Street Journal, where we learned about the most dangerous foods that cause the most emergency room visits.

It costs HOW much per commercial on The Amazing Race? That’s a steal! (and other commercial pricing)

The Amazing RaceWeb Watch has a TiVo for one thing – to make watching television easier and more fun (unlike other folks who solely use TiVo or other DVRs to skip commercials).  We do admit that we skip commercials, but we’ll often go back to watch some of the ones that look more interesting… like movie trailers, or something new that hasn’t been seen before.

But it did get Web Watch wondering… HOW MUCH ARE THE NETWORKS CHARGING PER 30-SECOND AD IN PRIMETIME?

And now we know.  Let’s take a look at how much some of Web Watch’s current favorite shows are doing per 30-second spot:

Companies that Profit by using Pink Ribbons for Breast Cancer

Pink Ribbons, IncNational Feel Your Boobies Week continues…

If you haven’t noticed, October brings with it not just the black-and-orange fun of Halloween, but also the ubiquitious pink ribbon-emblazoned products that companies issue to show their support for breast cancer research.

Web Watch 100% supports donating to research and the good that comes from that – whether it be for breast cancer or any other charitable cause of your choice.

However, where the pink ribbon on products was once seen as solely as a philanthopic device has turned into something much more:  Just Another Marketing Ploy.

Why buy these regular spatulas when you can buy a pink spatula?

Why buy just any room circulation fan when you can buy a room circulator fan that has a pink ribbon on it?

Just browse Amazon or your favorite local store this month, and you’ll see any number of pink and ribbonized items that serve no real purpose when compared to their normal-colored counterparts sold throughout the rest of the year.
