Which would you choose in a mate: Personality or Sex?

Does anyone remember that FOX TV reality show MR PERSONALITY?

On this dating show, the male contestants all wore masks to hide their facial features from their potential love interest.  The concept was that for any pure relationship to work, one’s personality should take priority over one’s looks.

Obviously, with the subsequent success of shows without masks like THE BACHELOR, the American TV audience is more interested in the visuals and sex appeal of their reality TV contestants rather than the more sincere personality-driven programming.

Women would rather have bigger breasts than be smart

“Math is Hard. Let’s go shopping!”

Ah, remember when Barbie actually said that, and the uproar that came from concerned parents that thought that Barbie wasn’t being a proper role model by encouraging young women that being smart wasn’t nearly as important as going out shopping?

Well, maybe the folks at Mattel were ahead of their time with this.

The NEW GIRL GUIDE TO NAKED ANIMALS. (There’s a word for that.)

FOX’s TV show NEW GIRL has become one of this season’s more entertaining programs.

While it started slow, with an unnecessary emphasis on the adorkable Zooey Deschanel, it has grown into itself as the audience (and show writers) have gotten to know all the other characters that inhabit Jess’ 30-year-old life.

One recent episode had Jess wondering how to describe what she saw, when she saw one of her roommates’ friends urinating in their shared, co-ed bathroom.

How to use Loci Memorization Techniques to improve your memory

Web Watch usually has a good memory for things.

We may not remember names and faces very well, but we certainly remember places and all sorts of useless trivia (as you can well attest by reading any of the thousands of Web Watch articles we’ve written over the years).

So how does one exercise their memory in order to become good at remembering things?

Change your life: do one thing every day that will scare the crap out of you

Greg Tung wanted to make this past year the most interesting year of his life.

Inspired by a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt (“Do one thing every day that scares you”), Greg decided that he was going to do just that for 365 days (plus one, to cover for leap year).

Now, everybody’s definition of what makes things “scary” is different.  Greg summed “scary” up as things that he would normally go out of his way to avoid doing if he had the choice to do so.

So Greg went ahead to chronicle this personal adventure on his website, SCARE YOURSELF EVERY DAY, which Web Watch will predict will get turned into another one of those great blog-to-book projects we’ve talked about previously (Cake Wrecks, we’re looking at you!).   It’s more likely to happen, since as part of the Scare Yourself project, Greg quit his job to focus on his dream of becoming a writer.

Yeah, quitting your job to follow a dream is definitely on everyone’s list of things that can scare the crap out of you.
