How many Web Watch readers are on Facebook?

Here’s a better question: how many Web Watch readers are NOT on Facebook?

Ah, that’s a bit more interesting. What better icebreaker for a room than to discuss reasons why someone has chosen not to be on Facebook. Are they missing out on anything from their friends or family? Do they not get invited to parties or see the latest vacation photos from their neighbors?

Some would argue that not being on Facebook is liberating. It can make you interact with people the way they were meant to be interacted with: in person, one-on-one.

You know, like we used to before Facebook came around.

But Web Watch has found a reason that you might want to reconsider your anti-Facebook stance:

Web Watch was in Las Vegas recently, where we had the pleasure of dining at GORDON RAMSAY STEAK at the Paris Las Vegas casino.

Needless to say, famed celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay wasn’t there that night, but we’ll just offer a quick review of the place: in one word, “fantastic”.

Of course, it didn’t help that having Chef Ramsay’s name on the marquee led to a constant parade of tacky tourists with their camera phones, t-shirts, and flip-flops barging into the main dining area to take a photo or two of a place that they’re not spending a nickle in. It was a bit disruptive to those of us with our own camera phones who were diving in to our own 2-hour dining spectactular.

But regardless of the lack of control the hosting staff had in preventing the riff-raff from interfering with our fine dining, Web Watch highly recommends Gordon Ramsay Steak for your next Las Vegas dining experience.

What? You’re not planning on heading out to Vegas anytime soon? Well – let Web Watch bring you a little bit of Gordon Ramsay to your kitchen…

Everybody knows why NBC has chosen to air what they are airing in their primetime coverage of the Olympics.

Sure, it may all be tape-delayed, but that doesn’t detract from the sheer spectacle of the sport. Web Watch has been watching NBC’s coverage almost non-stop since the Games began, and even though we know (what seems like days in advance) what the outcomes of each competition happens to be, that doesn’t mean that we’re not enjoying what NBC has decided to showcase.

They’re the kind of guy that nobody really wants to hang out with… unless it’s Trivia Night at the local bar, and your normal “movie expert” is nowhere to be seen.

And then, wouldn’t you know it, Movie Quote Guy ends up winning the whole thing for you, which means that you are now obligated to invite them back to join you next week.

Dammit.

Let’s face it – we’ve all played that game of chance when riding our favorite form of public transportation, whether it be a streetcar in San Francisco, a plane flying out of JFK, or a public bus or subway:

“Is that person coming down the aisle going to sit in the empty seat next to me?”

And there are some people who are coming through that you say, “why yes – I’d love for that hottie to sit next to me for the next 4 hours” (Web Watch knows of at least one blooming relationship that was born from such a random airplane encounter).

And then there are others who you hope and pray won’t choose you to be their personal Travel Buddy and Hygiene Police.

But if we were to mention that Randy was the Carnegie-Mellon professor who wrote the book The Last Lecture, then maybe that would help ring a bell for you. If you haven’t taken the time to read the book or watch the phenomenal documentary on The Last Lecture, then Web Watch strongly encourages you to stop whatever you’re doing right now and do so.
