Are you smart? Maybe it all depends on where you live…

Do you consider yourself a smart person?

If you’re reading this (or anything on the Internet), one would assume that the answer is “yes”. Only smart people bother to use the Internet — and only the smartest of the smart will read Web Watch.

So “hi!” to all of our smart readers out there.

But seriously, studiest have shown that sometimes what your intelligence level is can be dictated by the environment you surround yourself with.  In other words – generally speaking – if you hang out with smart people (or dumb people), then you will eventually become smarter (or dumber) through association.

At the very least, just to keep up with those you hang out with.

But a new study proves this even better…

How to use Loci Memorization Techniques to improve your memory

Web Watch usually has a good memory for things.

We may not remember names and faces very well, but we certainly remember places and all sorts of useless trivia (as you can well attest by reading any of the thousands of Web Watch articles we’ve written over the years).

So how does one exercise their memory in order to become good at remembering things?

Reason #6 why MAGIC: The Gathering games should be covered by ESPN

Web Watch has a number of friends who play the collectible card game MAGIC: THE GATHERING.

They get together every week or two to play, have a few beers, and enjoy each other’s company. We’ve tried playing MTG (as the nerds refer to it), but Web Watch just couldn’t get into it. We’ve played online card-based games, such as MONSTER MASTER, and for us they seem to be more fun online than in person — but then again, games like that have simpler rules than MTG would have, which ultimately makes MTG a more interesting game overall.

What’s That From?: The Ultimate Quiz Book of Contemporary Movie Lines

Do you consider yourself an expert on films and movies?

Web Watch has seen a ton of them over the years, but we admit that our memory banks have gotten a little fuzzier with some of the more obscure films that we’ve had to sit through.

On the other hand, we can recite lines from SORORITY BABES AT THE SLIMEBALL BOWL-A-RAMA and PSYCHOS IN LOVE.

Sudoku so hard, it took one team a giant computer and an entire year to solve a single puzzle

Will Shortz Presents Simply Sinister Sudoku: 200 Hard Puzzles
Will Shortz Presents Simply Sinister Sudoku: 200 Hard Puzzles

If you enjoy working on Sudoku puzzles as much as Web Watch does, then this may be of interest to you.

First, let’s talk a little bit about what Sudoku is, for those Web Watch readers who may have been living under a rock for the past 10 years:

Sudoku is a puzzle that is rumored to have been created by a puzzle creator living in Indiana, seemingly around 1979.  In 1984, it was published in a Japanese newspaper… and the rest, they say, is history.  The puzzle typically is a 9×9 square, and the object is to put the numbers 1-9 into the boxes so each row, column and 3×3 sub-block contains all the 1-9 digits.

In other words, it’s a game that’s absolutely perfect of playing on an iPad or phone.
