The Museum of Endangered Sounds

You’re one of those old people, aren’t you?

Always living in the past, telling those young punks of today how easy they have it now.  You begin every sentence with, “oh yeah, well back in MY day, we didn’t have the Internet. And we LIKED it!”

So time marches on – it happens.

We can all agree that all sorts of things have changed over the past 50 years for sure, but even more so in the last 5-10 years.

Your dad’s not worth as much as your mom

You know how typically “Dad” is considered the primary breadwinner in most households, while “Mom” typically manages the home and kids?

Well, what if Web Watch told you that dollar-for-dollar, Mom is worth more than Dad is?

Are you secure? You’d be surprised how little time it can take to hack your password

Web Watch has covered password hacks like the recent ones at LinkedIn, eHarmony, Last.fm, and others.

We’ll start with the standard recommendation: if you’ve been using one of those sites Web Watch just mentioned, please go and change your password immediately.  It’s okay… we’ll wait.

And you’re back…

As a reminder, some of the password suggestions we’ve made in the past can be found here:

and there are others.

So since we’ve already talked about the things that you should do to change your password and how to make a nice strong password, the next question to ask is whether the password you’ve selected is actually strong and unique enough to avoid being hacked.

How to find a bra that fits

All women seem to have this exact same problem. It’s universal:

HOW TO FIND A BRA THAT FITS?

Smart women will pay big bucks to the old ladies at the lingerie store (or bra department at the local department store) to get properly measured.  Hey, every woman is different – not all bras are made to fit every boob that’s squished into that lace.

But not every manufacturer adheres to the same measurement scale and sizing guidelines.

Oh, sure – they pretend to do so.  But women know that’s not really the case.

The Naked Pumpkin Run. It’s like streaking, but fun

We all know that there’s a difference between being “naked” and being “nekkid”.

“Nekkid” is just more fun.

And if you’re looking for a fun way to get nekkid in your local area with a bunch of others (and a vegetable or two), read on for the nsfw details:

Patrick Murphy loves dogs… but hates dog poop

Boulder, Colorado’s Patrick Murphy is a plant ecologist.

And like many of Boulder’s proud residents, Patrick is extremely environmentally conscious.  Being a plant ecologist and wanting to be environmentally-friendly sort of go hand-in-hand – but throw in the Boulder mystique, and Patrick’s really got something.

A disclaimer:  Web Watch loves Boulder.  We have a number of friends who live there, and we enjoy every opportunity we get to spend some time out there.

But like Austin, Texas’ reputation, Boulder is a bit quirky.

And that’s okay.   We like those folks anyway.  And Patrick does bring up a vitally important point that pet lovers around the world should take notice of:

Here’s one way to tell if you’re being a douchebag online

Face it – everyone can be a little bit of a douchebag once in a while.

It may not always be seen in public, but it can happen.

And it doesn’t really matter if you say “douche”, “douchebag”, “bouchedag” or some other variation.  A douche is a douche, no matter what you call it.

Can YOU name the Top 100 Global Brands for 2012?

Even if you’re one of those Occupy Wall Streeters, complaining about everything that Big Business is doing to Keep You Down, chances are you’re also a little bit brand conscious.

Aside from the fact that the OWS movement went to all the trouble of ensuring that they have a trademark on “OCCUPY WALL STREET”, those 99% really aren’t any different from the rest of us.

They’re wearing name-brand clothing, purchased at a name-brand retailer.

They’re marketing their protest with Apple and Google phones, using Facebook and Twitter over cellular networks or purloined free WiFi connections that are setup/maintained/paid for by other corporations.

A protest is fine, and bringing attention to companies’ misdeeds is powerful — but don’t complain about how all businesses are bad if you have to rely on them in order to handle your protest in the first place.

See, it really IS all about branding and marketing, isn’t it?
