Celebrate Diaper Free Week by Going Diaper Free!

Web Watch has talked about ELIMINATION COMMUNICATION earlier, a method used by parents to encourage their infants to equate specific sounds with going to the potty.

Pavlovian, you say?  Perhaps.  But parents who practice EC swear by it, and it saves them hundreds of dollars a year in disposable diaper costs.

Women will spend 72 days of their lifetime doing this one task

It’s a well-worn comedic observation: women just take forever in the bathroom, getting ready.

Maybe that explains why we always see women driving down the highway in morning commuter traffic, still putting on their makeup with their hair in rollers, if only to save themselves an extra 10-15 minutes of sleep.

Why do their beauty regime at home in front of a mirror when you can do the same thing driving at 75 MPH while weaving in and out of traffic?

Beer Pong can Kill You

As Web Watch told you earlier, BEER PONG is the MOST POPULAR DRINKING GAME around.

The premise is simple: throw a ball into a cup, make your opponent drink.  Web Watch has even been to the WORLD SERIES OF BEER PONG out in Las Vegas, and we’ll be the first to tell you that THAT event is a party and a half, even if the entry fee (including room, which cuts down on driving liability issues) starts at $500 per person.

What is the highest scoring Scrabble word?

Web Watch, as we’ve declared previously, loves playing board games with friends.

There’s something about sitting around a table and taking part in a group activity – laughing, drinking – that you just can’t get from the anonymous (and cheat-filled) ways of playing knock-off word games with friends via cellphone.

Is SCRABBLE the best game choice for game night?  Sometimes yes, sometimes not.  It partly depends on how many people are playing, and whether they enjoy playing word games with you.  If you’re the kind of person who TiVos the NATIONAL SPELLING BEE, then chances are you’re not the type of person that others will want to engage in a casual Scrabble game with.

Why ICE (“In Case of Emergency”) is Worthless

If you’re like Web Watch, then you too have likely received the parental email thread – typically forwarded from friend after friend, Facebook after Facebook post – that encourages everyone to enter an I.C.E. entry on your cellphone.

You know, IN CASE OF EMERGENCY.

That ICE entry would contain the name, phone number, and other immediately important information about the person/people that emergency responders should contact for you when an emergency or crisis occurs.  Web Watch even knows someone who has a complete ICE binder sitting smack on top of their refrigerator, with the names, addresses, and phone numbers of their entire family tree.  This makes sense, of course – as everyone knows that the kitchen is the 2nd most dangerous place in the house… after the bathroom.

And who would want to keep an ICE binder in the bathroom?

It only takes $47,500 to be in the Top 1%

Everyone loves a little bit of competition.

Keeping up with the Jones, for example, can drive one to excess consumption at the expense of your credit card payments.

But maybe you’re putting too much pressure on yourself.  Maybe, you’re a lot more rich than you think you are.

The most germ-filled place in your kitchen

Everybody likes to joke about how they’ll never eat at That Restaurant anymore, because that restaurant received a bad food health inspection score.

Web Watch fully subscribes to this theory, having rejected restaurant after restaurant that we used to enjoy, after they received less than 60 out of 100 possible points on inspection scores.

Look, we get it – the health inspector has a job to do to protect the public health.  But remember, whenever you see a food score – keep in mind that it was likely negotiated UP a few points.  In other words, the score of “80” that you see pasted on the wall?  Chances are it started out in the mid-60’s.

Yeech.

How to Take a Selfie

Web Watch learned this week that not everybody knows what the term SELFIE means.

As with many other Internet-related terms that kids use these days, SELFIE is just a shortened version of the real phrase, SELF-PORTRAIT.

That’s cray-cray, right?  (because saying “cray cray” is so much easier and faster than saying “crazy”. Silly kids.)

So we’ve all seen those CELEBRITY SELFIE shots, usually leaked out on Twitter or TMZ. Some are good, some are reputation-ruining, and others are just so awful that you have to wonder what was going through the celeb’s mind – not when they took the picture, but when they thought it was good enough to release for the world to see.
