It’s a trap! (How to avoid email fraud)

Web Watch knows many people who suffer from a daily deluge of spam email in their inbox.  It’s through no fault of their own – it has to do with their company email policies and the ease of guessing commonly spelled names at specific email domains.

Yes, we feel sorry for you, Ned Obody at the DMV.  Too bad you’re stuck with the email address of nobody@thedmv.goov as your email address.  (Note for anyone attempting to reach Mr Ned — Web Watch made that email address up, so the chances of it actually working are slim to none.)

Why every office should be filled with kittens and puppies

Are you watching the current BRAVO TV program LOLWORK?

It’s a reality TV program that allegedly shows the real-world behind-the-scenes workings of how the Cheezburger Network — home toLOL CATSand millions of other funny animal pictures and videos — does business.

While most the show appears to be purposefully driven to make what is supposed to be good TV, there are specific business-aspects that get aired that really for-real give a reasonable peek behind the curtain of what it takes to run a popular content-driven website.

Watching LOLWORK will give you a good reminder that it’s always hard work to create good, compelling CONTENT for your website, but that it’s that same content that also brings eyeballs to your site in the first place.  Focus on the content, let everything else fall into place later.

How to permanently block all online ads

Look, we get it.

The Internet is free, right?  You have to pay to be online, but once you’re there – the millions of pages of information out there should be yours for the viewing, without being blocked by persistently annoying advertising invading your viewspace.

Web Watch is in a quandray over this – we’re supported by advertising on the site, so why would we want to share with you one simple, easy way to completely block all ads from ever appearing on your computer or WiFi-enabled devices ever again?  If this idea takes off, we’ll have to switch to a subscription-based model – but we’d rather not go that route if we can help it.
