Top things to do on a first date

When was the last time you went on a “first date”?

Can you even remember what you did on your first date with your current significant other?  Here’s a game to play — with your spouse, you each separately write down how you believe your first date went.  The where, what, how — as many details as you can each remember.

Then, hand your answers over to an impartial party (like your best friends or children), and have them compile the answers back to see who got the most portions of the story correct.  Bonus points are awarded for anything the two of you match on.

10 Toxic products you should avoid

Do you read product labels when you’re making household purchases?  Web Watch does try to avoid buying food that contains high fructose corn syrup or has “sugar” listed on the label — but we’re a creature of habit, and Pop Tarts taste so darn good.

But we don’t really take the time to read all those other funky labels and warnings that seem to be applied to practically everything we get nowadays.  Do we care that something was made in a plant that also processes “soy”, “nuts”, and “dairy products”?  Eh.  Not so much… but we know some folks who do care, so we’re not going to make fun of them for this.

Um, what’s YOUR “crutch word”?

A while back, Web Watch told you about how much we hate certain words – like “mancave” and “actually”.

It ends up that there’s a reason why some of these words really suck – and it’s not because some of these phrases are just stupid made-up things (“vajayjay”) that serve no purpose when other, more practical words can suffice.

How well do you know world events and politics? (Chances are, not well at all)

Were you one of those kids who really excelled at Social Studies in grade school?

Do you sit there and read through the World Almanac every year?

Can you entertain others at a cocktail party with your ability to name every foreign president in alphabetical order?

Yeah, we didn’t think so.  Kids who can do that kind of stuff are pretty much dorks.

Facebook vs the World: Tracking Your Friendships around the Globe

Web Watch has traveled all over the world and has made tons of friends.

We could call up folks from Hong Kong to Morocco, and places in-between using that old-fashioned telephone thingie.

Sure, we could use Facebook to reach out to all our friends, but why do something that impersonal when you can reach out and touch someone with a phone call?

How often do you read the Bible? Apparently, not as often as you think

Web Watch knows that not everybody is religious.

There are those people who only go to church on Christmas and Easter (“C&E’ers”).  Some who only attend on High Holy Days.

There are people who attend Mass every Saturday night, if only because they have other things to do on Sundays.

Each person has their own religious beliefs, and everyone can practice their religion in the best manner for their personal spiritual well-being.  And we’re okay with that.

How bad is your office bathroom? So bad that nobody wants to wash their hands there

Web Watch has seen some pretty stinky office bathrooms, both literally and figuratively.

There was one office bathroom where you had to get the key from the receptionist at the front desk, as locking the door was the only way to keep non-employees from using a bathroom that they weren’t supposed to have access to.  We’re sure the receptionist didn’t like knowing each individual’s bathroom habits any more than we liked having to share them with her.

There was the office restroom that didn’t have any stall doors.

The bathroom that perpetually smelled like rotten fish.

And then there was the building that had a serial pooper.  Every two weeks or so, a stranger would wander into the building and spread feces all over the men’s and women’s restrooms.  This went on for about three months, until security was finally able to identify the mentally-challenged person and have them taken to a location that could help them.

So when Web Watch says that we know a bad office bathroom situation when we see – or smell – one, believe it.

How much money do kids make with allowance?

A question for all the parents who read Web Watch: how much money do you pay your kids in an allowance?

One would think this would be a simply question to answer, but it’s really a bit more complicated than one would think.

Are you the type of parent who pays an allowance to their children, no matter what?  Or do you only pay an allowance as payment for specific jobs being done around the house?
