How To Find Your Lost Wallet

Find? How about “get it returned”?

A study in England dropped 240 wallets around town to see which wallets would get returned.

The wallets didn’t contain any money or other useful items, just receipts or ticket stubs.

However, there was one key difference in each wallet, which is what the study was all about:  DOES THE PHOTO YOU CARRY IN YOUR WALLET INCREASE THE LIKELIHOOD THAT THE WALLET WOULD BE RETURNED?

The answer to that question, apparently, is “yes”.

Tourist Trap

Expedia.com has released the results from their 2nd annual survey of the WORLD’S BEST TOURISTS, as voted on by Expedia partners.

27 nationalities were voted on by over 4500 hoteliers, and this is what they found:

  • The Japanese ranked 1st, for the 2nd year in a row.  They also were judged to be the quietest, most polite, cleanest, and least likely to complain
  • In 2nd place were the British
  • 3rd place went to Canadians
  • The French fell to the bottom of the list, mainly due to being perceived as bad tippers and being impolite.
  • Americans, Italians, and Spanish are the loudest tourists

Ugly Babies and the Parents Who Love Them…or not

A new study published in the Public Library of Science by McLean Hospital and Harvard Medical School entitled GENDER DIFFERENCES IN THE MOTIVATIONAL PROCESSING OF BABIES ARE DETERMINED BY THEIR FACIAL ATTRACTIVENESS concludes what all new mothers are afraid to hear:  that AN UGLY BABY IS HARDER TO LOVE.

The study set out to clarify an Israeli study that showed 70% of abused or abandoned children had some sort of visible flaw – but no other health or learning issues by determining “why”.

It’s True – Men Love Food More Than Sex

Leave it to those crazy Australians to prove, via a scientific study, that MEN LOVE FOOD MORE THAN SEX.

The survey of 10,000 people was conducted by Magnum ice cream, and asked Australians to rank everyday experiences as part of a “pleasure quotient test”, which asked the participants to rank items based on the frequency and intensity to which the individuals felt a pleasurable trigger.   (What does that mean?  Just ask UniSA adjunct senior lecturer of psychology Dr David Haynes.  He’ll explain it in detail if you need to know.)
