The Stop Solution – Stop Yo-Yo Dieting, Snacking And Big Portions – Hypnosis

Who doesn’t like to have a snack or two between meals?

Web Watch has been known to grab a 3pm bowl of popcorn while at the office.  Snickers and 5-Hour Energy have entire advertising campaigns around mid-day snacking.

So we shouldn’t be surprised about what the ALMOND BOARD OF CALIFORNIA found out after survying over 400 women aged 35 and over.

12 hassle-free exercises that you can do while watching TV
12 hassle-free exercises that you can do while watching TV

Now that we’re fully into the new year, it’s time to revisit that age-old New Year’s Resolution, GOING TO THE GYM MORE OFTEN.

Those of us who are smart will take the first six weeks of the year and NOT go to the gym on a regular basis, as then we have to deal with the newbie idiots who’ve never been to the gym before but feel that it’s necessary in order to Feel Good About Themselves Because They’re Sticking to their New Year’s Resolution.

Those people can suck it, because they’re not going to be around the gym any more after the Super Bowl is over.  We all know that January is the worst time to try to use the gym since it’s more crowded than it needs to be.

Gluten-Free Baking Classics
Gluten-Free Baking Classics

If you are one of the millions of people who suffer from gluten allergy (also known as celiac disease), or just want to limit the amount of gluten that you ingest on a daily basis to something a bit more tolerable for your body, then you may want to read a recent study that came out that did some analysis on one item that almost requires gluten to exist in the first place:

Beer.

Yes, there are many gluten-free beers on the market today, but how many of them are labeled correctly with the term “gluten-free” if they actually contain gluten?

Are you super fat? You can make $90,000 a year by doing practically nothing

What one pound of fat looks like
Model replica of one-pound of fat

Being fat isn’t necessarily good for you.

But Donna Simpson made it work for her.

How?  Donna Simpson was the Guinness World Record holder for “World’s Heaviest Mother” and clocked in at 600 lbs on her 5’2″ frame.

Yeah, that’s a lot of woman.  And we’re sure that Web Watch readers are asking the same thing — when you weigh 600lbs, what can you do to earn a living? It certainly can’t be easy manuevering around a workplace when you’re that big.

Well, you could do what Donna did.

Men, you like the corsets, don’t you?

Of course you do. You find them sexy on pretty much any woman who goes through the effort of putting on one for you.

But would you feel the same if the tables were turned, and YOU were the one to wear a Male Corset?  Well, it could happen — Asda in the UK is now selling a male corsetOf course, Asda doesn’t go as far as to call it a corset — that wouldn’t do well for sales, would it?

Announcing the 2011 Xtreme Eating Awards – the 8 highest calorie restaurant menu items

Rachel Ray - Eat Healthy Without Going to Extremes
Buy the book “Eat Healthy Without Going to Extremes”

For the past few years, the Center for Science in the Public Interest has been monitoring what restaurants have been serving, as a way to inform the public about the horrors that await them when eating wonderful, delicious restaurant food.

Web Watch, like you, loves cheese.

We apparently didn’t know that adding cheese to any meal is typically a no-no when it comes to eliminating fat and calories from one’s diet.   So we’re torn – cheese tastes good, but it’s bad for you.

Oh well – maybe we’ll just have one or two small bites, then set the rest of these phenomenally sounding meals away to snack on later.  Can’t let all that cheese go to waist, can we?  (See what we did there?  Looks like we mispelled “waste” as “waist”.  Ha!)

New diet tip: get drunk, not fat

Drink This, Not That
Drink This, Not That

David Zinczenko, Matt Goulding, and the rest of the gang at Men’s Health have a great concept that Web Watch wholeheartedly agrees with — if you want to lose weight the easy way, just change what you eat through simple meal replacements.

Like the photo above, you can still have your giant-sized coffee beverage, but the Starbucks version will save you 200 calories and 30 grams of fat.

But let’s face it – their book is full of practical advice when what we really want are the details surrounding the unpublished information on the drinks we really enjoy: beer and liquor.

Choose better fast-food meal options by not ordering the combo meals

Combo Meal - Meat Shake
Combo Meal – Meat Shake

A study by University of Virginia professor Kathyrn Sharpe in the Journal of Public Policy & Marketing entitled “Consumption Effects of Bundling: Consumer Perceptions, Firm Actions, and Public Policy Implications,” says that ordering combo meals may not be good for you, health-wise.

The study found that when given a choice of ordering menu items a la carte vs ordering them as a combo meal, consumers would order the combo more often — even if the price point was exactly the same as the a la carte options.

Drink This, Not That: Lose weight through smarter drinking habits

Drink This, Not That
Drink This, Not That!

Web Watch has always been a fan of the EAT THIS, NOT THAT series of books from Men’s Health, which boil down dieting and weight-loss to one simple task:  you may not be exercising as much as you want to, and you may not be eating as healthy as you would like to — but making the right choices in eating can help offset the lack of exercise.

Remember, gaining and losing weight is paritally to do with the number and type of calories and fat that you take in.  So change your meals, and even if you do nothing else – you should lose some weight simply by eating better.

The premise of their latest book, DRINK THIS, NOT THAT concentrates specifically on beverages, and what you should substitute when you go out for a drink.  Not a lot has changed between the 2009 DRINKS YOU SHOULD DRINK, AND DRINKS THAT YOU SHOULDN’T and the 2010 LIST OF DRINK THIS, NOT THAT CONTENDERS, so let’s take a look at some of what’s listed in their HALL OF SHAME:
