How to Create a Haunted House, and Make Money Doing It

Haunted House Halloween Handbook Haunted House Halloween Handbook

Web Watch loves Halloween – more for the experience of visiting what could be used as a local movie set at elaborate haunted house attractions rather than the handing out of candy to neighborhood brats. Because those creative individuals who spend all year working on an immersive Halloween experience really deserve kudos for the effort they put into spending a month scaring the hell out of all their guests. One question that Web Watch wanted to figure out the answer to was HOW MUCH MONEY DO HAUNTED HOUSE ATTRACTIONS MAKE EACH YEAR? Is it a profitable business?  Using some rough math, Web Watch can guess that the following is a reasonable estimate on haunted house earnings:

September 29th is NATIONAL COFFEE DAY. Which professions need the most coffee?

I NEED COFFEE!
I Need Coffee!

In honor of NATIONAL COFFEE DAY on September 29th, Dunkin’ Donuts and CareerBuilder teamed up to identify the PROFESSIONS THAT REQUIRE THE MOST COFFEE.

They asked over 3,600 office workers about their coffee-drinking habits, and found that 32% of office workers require a cup of coffee to get through the workday.  43% said that they are less productive without their morning Joe.  Web Watch figures this is why the majority of offices offer their staff free coffee — it’s a small cost to pay for happy workers.

September 20-27 is NO MAKEUP WEEK

My First Makeup Bag

Did you know that September 20th through September 27th was NO MAKE-UP WEEK?

That’s right – for these seven days, women around the world are purposefully going out of the house without blush, base, mascara, lipstick, eyeshadow, and other beauty products in order to prove a point:  that women prefer other women to wear makeup.  (This comes from a study that claims that 80% of women prefer that their female co-workers wear some sort of cosmetics over women who didn’t wear any.)

Wal-Mart predicts a surge in underpants and sock purchases this holiday season

Always Wear Clean Underwear
Always Wear Clean Underwear

A while back, Web Watch wrote about the UNDERWEAR ECONOMIC INDEX, the theory being that people buy more underwear when they feel that the economy is doing well – and that people will make do with their existing underpants when the economy is doing poorly.

Based on that piece of stellar reporting, Web Watch is confident in saying that WAL-MART BELIEVES THE ECONOMY IS GROWING, as WAL-MART CEO BILL SIMON PREDICTS THIS HOLIDAY SEASON TO BE FILLED WITH UNDERWEAR AND SOCK PURCHASES for adults.

Triskaidekaphobia vs Paraskavedekatriaphobia – learn the difference

Friday the 13th Camp Crystal Lake sign

We at Web Watch want to be sure that our Web Watch readers are aware whenever there is a potential of making a grammatical faux pas of grand scale come this week’s FRIDAY THE 13TH.

We wouldn’t want our faithful readers to mistakenly call into work, claiming that they suffer from triskaidekaphobia.

Because the FEAR OF THE NUMBER 13 (which is what triskaidekaphobia is all about) has absolutely nothing to do with Friday the 13th at all.  Calling in sick because you’re scared of a number is just plain stupid.

Calling in sick because you’re SCARED OF FRIDAY THE 13th, that’s a different issue altogether.
