10 Things How To Music

Top Paid Musicians of 2012 (here’s a hint: it’s not all from Youtube or iTunes)

It’s time once again to take a look at HOW MUCH MONEY MUSICIANS MAKE each year.

Web Watch knows what you’re thinking — with iTunes, the Amazon Music Store, Google Play and other services, let alone the money that comes in from Youtube from display advertising showing with all their posted music videos — that successful artists would almost literally be rolling in dough.

But that’s not the case, as Web Watch has told you before regarding HOW MUSIC ROYALTIES WORK.

Why every office should be filled with kittens and puppies

Are you watching the current BRAVO TV program LOLWORK?

It’s a reality TV program that allegedly shows the real-world behind-the-scenes workings of how the Cheezburger Network — home toLOL CATSand millions of other funny animal pictures and videos — does business.

While most the show appears to be purposefully driven to make what is supposed to be good TV, there are specific business-aspects that get aired that really for-real give a reasonable peek behind the curtain of what it takes to run a popular content-driven website.

Watching LOLWORK will give you a good reminder that it’s always hard work to create good, compelling CONTENT for your website, but that it’s that same content that also brings eyeballs to your site in the first place.  Focus on the content, let everything else fall into place later.

Peeing in Space, Revisited: How Urine May Power Space Flight

The other day, Web Watch had the privilege of having dinner with a former NASA engineer, and as is often the case with this gentleman, the inevitable topic of using the bathroom in the confines of the Space Shuttle or the International Space Station came up.

Not by us, of course.  He was the one to first broach the subject, which we found a little odd, especially over dinner.

What REALLY happens when you have an opportunity to sleep with your fantasy

Everybody has aTOP FIVE LIST.

That’s the list of your Top Five Most Desired celebrities who, if you ever have the opportunity to do so, you would sleep with – no questions asked from your current spouse or partner.

The obvious reason for the no strings attached hookup allowance is that we can all be fairly confident that the opportunity to actually sleep with perennial favorites Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, Sandra Bullock, or George Clooney will never actually happen.

The Top Five List is the purest form of fantasy, like buying a lottery ticket, in that you can dream about what the experience would be like if it were to actually come true with the safety in the knowledge that it never will.  You can be as wild and crazy as you want in your mind, without having to go through with anything in the end.

How to permanently block all online ads

Look, we get it.

The Internet is free, right?  You have to pay to be online, but once you’re there – the millions of pages of information out there should be yours for the viewing, without being blocked by persistently annoying advertising invading your viewspace.

Web Watch is in a quandray over this – we’re supported by advertising on the site, so why would we want to share with you one simple, easy way to completely block all ads from ever appearing on your computer or WiFi-enabled devices ever again?  If this idea takes off, we’ll have to switch to a subscription-based model – but we’d rather not go that route if we can help it.

The best time to exercise is between 5pm – 7pm

Are you like most people?

You get out of bed, slip on your running outfit (with nighttime reflectors, of course), and head out for an early-morning 5 mile run to shake out the cobwebs before you head home to shower and get ready for work?

If so, then you’re doing it wrong.

Hospital infections kill someone every six minutes

The CDC claims that 1.7 million people become infected while at a hospital, but according to RID: The Committee to Reduce Infection Deaths, the actual number of infections at hospitals each year is much, much higher.

On average, a patient DIES AT A HOSPITAL due to a hospital-related infection every six minutes.  RID says it’s at least 103,000 (preventable?) deaths a year, causing up to $30 billion in hospital costs.

It’s the fourth leading cause of death, with heart disease, cancer, and strokes taking the top three spots.
