Did Susan G Komen make the right decision?

(because even though Darth Vader is evil, he still supports the fight against Breast Cancer)

Today, Web Watch received a flood of emails from friends and family regarding the Susan G. Komen Foundation pulling their financial contributions to Planned Parenthood.

There is even a petition asking Susan G Komen to restore their relationship with Planned Parenthood.

That there is controversy surrounding what the Susan G Komen Foundation does with their money, and that there is a brouhaha surrounding the marketing of the pink ribbon to raise money for breast cancer research, is nothing new.  The people who are commenting on the petition are acting all shocked and surprised that Such A Thing Is Going On, when Web Watch has told you about this for years.

If you have ever downloaded anything illegally, you may want to visit this site

BitTorrent for Dummies
BitTorrent for Dummies

Remember how much fun Napster was, back in the day?

Yeah, well Napster is officially gone now.

What about LimeWire?  KaZaa?   Yeah, you shouldn’t be using those either.

Nope, whether you agree with the legalities (or lack thereof) of those sites, none of the old fun “file sharing” apps and websites are valid anymore, thanks to the movie and music industry.

And the proliferation of $0.99 songs and apps on the iTunes store.  That kinda helped a little bit.

Of course, you always have that peer-to-peer sharing via BitTorrent, which is a legitimate way to legally share giant files amongst people who need them.  Unfortunately, a few bad apples had to go and ruin BitTorrent for everyone else too, by using BT as a way to throw around pirated movies and music.

Leave it to Cleavage

It’s true – it’s all about the boobs.

How many slaves work for you? (it all depends on where you live, and what you buy)

Business Ethics: Case Studies and Selected Readings

Think about it — where you live, the clothes you wear, the products you buy… much of it comes from overseas where business ethics and governmental oversights may not be as stringent as they are in America.

Ultimate pick-up line revised: “Hey babe, what’s your number?” (Ours is 3.4 billion)

Population Control: Real Costs, Illusory Benefits
Population Control: Real Costs, Illusory Benefits

Today they expect there to be 7 BILLION PEOPLE ON EARTH.

That’s a lot of mouths to feed, people to clothe, waste to process.

One could expect that the Earth — or our modern infrastructure — was not built to sustain this type of function.  More people just means more needs: from power to water, places to live, medicines, beds, etc…

No more does the old adage of a man and a wife deciding to procreate to have two children to replace them when the parents die; we’re seeing larger and larger families come around in countries around the world, putting a strain on systems that were never designed to carry that type of load.

Don’t spam your neighborhood mailboxes – you’ll end up paying the price

Mailbox
Mailbox

Here’s a story that Web Watch is 100% behind:  did you know that it is illegal to put anything that isn’t mail into or taped to a residential mailbox?

That’s right — every stupid pizza delivery flyer, real estate agent’s magnet, tree service, maid service, and more — anything that isn’t sent through proper mail channels is considered illegal use of a mailbox and those companies can be subjected to being billed by the Post Office.

80% of couples live together before getting married

Living Together: A Legal Guide for Unmarried Couples
Living Together: A Legal Guide for Unmarried Couples

Living together before marriage: it’s not exactly a growing trend, it’s just something that’s been done for years and years.

Heck, if you want to get technical, Adam and Eve “lived together” in Biblical times.  There certainly wasn’t a priest around to make their arrangement an official “marriage”, if you will.

And while Web Watch knows that some parents are perfectly fine with the permanent roommate situation that living together brings, we also know of some couples who purposefully hide their living arrangements from the parental units.  It’s all about avoiding the wrath and disappointment of the parents, combined with the realization that the living-in-sin couple might have to pay for their own wedding arrangements, we assume.  To each their own.  Whatever works.
